say what you want about him, but how many people can say they won a Gold Medal at the Olympics, beat Muhammad Ali, and won the Heavyweight Championship of the World?

What I'll always remember most about Leon Spinks (as well as his brother Michael) is how he represented his country at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, winning a Gold Metal there. This was at a time when the Cuban fighters were kicking some serious ass in World Amateur Boxing Championships, and the Cubans were putting up what amounted to "Pro" fighters against our U.S. amateurs.

Anyway cheers Leon, tell Michael to send some of that money he got for being crushed by Tyson.

Ali was facing prison time for evading the draft, but the charges were eventually dropped.

Yeah. Big Ali fan and know the history. Just thought maybe someone knew something I didn't which can quite often be the case. Especially on this forum. Thanks. But like I said, maybe I misunderstood the statement.

frasd, i am the one who got it wrong apparenmtly---i assumed ali had to go to prison for draft evasion, didnt realize he never actually went.
