There is little truth when it comes to religion, it's a load of bollocks designed to control stupid scared people.

I always describe religion as finite beings attempting to quantify infinite concepts. It is important to differentiate between faith and religion though. A person's faith to me is a personal relationship with their maker, god, higher being etc and/or belief system. Religion is much more about control and power like Miles said. That being said I find it just as arrogant and absurd to believe there is no higher power, supreme being or whatever you want to call it as believing that human's can understand or comprehend these things. How someone can look at the tremendous complexities of the human race and our world and not see an intelligent design is just as unfathomable to me as someone telling me that they can explain it all to me.

A talking snake and magical garden is a pretty fanciful belief system but would you also agree that believing that humans came to be on this plant from billions of small changes to the DNA of micro organisms resulting in the end state of the current human species w/o at the very least an intelligent design as not an absolute truth? I would say that whether you believe in one of these theories or a completely different one it requires a certain level of faith that can neither be proved or disproved.

First let me say that while humanity is a very unique species in a lot of ways, biologically we aren't really all that special. The evolution of a tiger, elephant, whale, or even a parrot, to name a few, is far more impressive then our own.
I've got no problem with abiogenesis, or "origin of life" studies that suggest biological life arises from inorganic matter through natural processes. I also accept the evolution of living organisms that occurs after abiogenesis, as theory and proven fact, "faith" has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Comparing valid scientific theories and/or explanations for human origins, with the fictive allegories in the book of genesis, or the brainfart called "creationism", is about like equating Einstein's book on the theory of relativity, with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. People these days only think one way and that is analytical. This Earth wasnt always inhabited by only a material orientated group. Once it was a cross over of dimensions and like your own dream state (that you spend half your given life in, but dont understand). In ancient cultures like the Aboriginal dream time legends and other stories from other cultures that are not from the material only world; these people lived in between the 3rd and 5th dimensions. We as a group are living below that, we are now choosing our own limits in everything.
