Just the shots you'll have to have should put you off.

How about a motorized canoe trip up the Amazon? nope scarey stuff remember Anaconda!!!!
Nah fly into southern Sumatra via Malaysia and get one up river to the center of Sumatra that would be much easier than south America or Africa animal wise.

I was thinking more like Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam. Somewhere not too fat out of reach for me. I can't be doing with south america, just too far and my massive flight to England is still in my head. I can't face 24 hours on the road with no sleep. 5 hours on a plane is fine though.

Miles are you expecting to do something similar like this white guy on his trip to the jungles? Taking in the sights and meeting inhabitants there?

Haha very funny video, I laughed a few times. No, I just want to live out a bit of an Indiana Jones fantasy really.

I have an ominous feeling that any trip Miles and I would take through the jungle would be much more "Heart of Darkness" than Indiana Jones.

I'm a nice enough chap really, it would be a laugh. I don't care for politics or any of that nonsense when marching through thick foliage.

On a serious note if you ever were going to do something like this purchase a good pair of boots. Garmont makes a great pair that I personally wear. Then start doing ruck marches with a 35+ pound load. Tacitcal Tailor makes a great rucksack. Start with 3 miles and work up to 12 miles. A man's feet and back have to be conditioned to humping weight for long periods of time and distance. I've seen blisters and soft feet take the starch out of some pretty tough men.

Well, I'm going to do it. I set off on friday so will likely not be back here for 10 days or so. I have my camera ready to take lots of pictures. The good thing is that I will likely stop drinking which Ouma really wants me to do. I don't think there are going to be many pubs up there. All in all I am terrified as I have no idea what I am getting myself into.

So, if I don't return here alive, I want you guys to know that I love you very deeply (in a non gay way obviously). I suppose it's going to be an adventure and I might get to see a monkey or something. But if I get bitten by a snake then I guess I am fucked. I've watched a lot of Austin Stevens but I've never actually handled or confronted a snake. It could be all wrong.
