Have you actually seen the punch stats? It's not like wlad threw double the amount of punches haye did. It was pretty even. Most of wlads were just jabs anyway.
Wlad threw a lot more punches than Haye, almost double in fact. Haye's output was shocking.

Wladimir Klitschko vs David Haye - CompuBox Stats
Two things:

Haye threw more power punches AND landed them (power punches) at a higher rate.

What's this about "just" jabs? Really? Just? It was the night of the jab. Wlad threw 376 (if you accept CompuBox Stats). That's what won the fight for him.

It would be more fun to see him throw more power punches, and even more fun if more of them connected. No doubt.

But still a statement like "most of Wlad's were just jabs anyway" ... eh. Don't quite know how to find meaningfulness there.
I'm not sure if you are calling me out there, but I happen to think the jab is extremely significant. It isn't just a jab at all. It's a meaningful scoring punch.

In terms of power shots I have no doubt that it was more even. But asking a fighter like Wlad to unload with more against someone as evasive and reluctant to engage as Haye wasn't easy. Haye did move well to his credit.

I just think there was no excuse for Haye's reluctance to try and win rounds. You have to outland your opponent and try to make an impact and he simply refused.

No, not calling you out. Minor correction perhaps to the impact of your post but not to the general fact. But even that was more in the service of disagreeing that you can use the word "just" in connection with a dominating jab - especially the dominating jab of a tall, strong heavyweight, but it's really true at any weight class.

(My comment that "it was the night of the jab" was to recall the golden boy's comments after his fight with floyd, when it wasn't that kind of night. Just in case someone didn't make the connection.)

It was Hornfinger, not you, whom I quoted regarding "just jabs." And I'm not calling him out, either, just disagreeing with him.
