Martinez was not even looking, it was a lucky punch.![]()

Two of my favorite KOs that I watch over and over are this one and Donaire KOing Darchinyun. That was wicked as well.

I jumped two feet out of my chair watching that the first time. I think my wife was asking me what happened.
Paul shouldn't have any problems coming back from that, his problem is he should use that frame to stay outside more. (If he did that he wouldn't be getting hit with a lucky punch.) Someone pointed out that Martinez used that same punch a number of times. I went back and took a look and as I recall he connected with that punch.

CAN he? Sure. Lots of fighters have rebounded strongly from getting drilled. Roberto Duran, Ezzard Charles and Jack Demspey among others.
WILL he? No idea. That question really makes Saturday interesting doesn't it?

I hope so Williams is a class act.
Paul being KO'ed, do make this weekend very interesting. But I think he will get pass Lara by KO. I'm already asking what's next for Paul. The 154 is the division where he should settle down at. Although he still claim he can still make 147, he will not get Manny or Floyd in the ring. And there's nobody else at that weight for him to fight. But 154 . . . if he gets through Lara . . .
Alfredo Angulo - Should be fighting more often and still a majpr player
Sergei Dzinziruk - Put up a great effort against Martinez and still WBO champ
Antonio Margarito vs Cotto 2 - the winner of this fight
Kermit Cintron - history
Austin Trout - A step up but safe fight for Williams. No ko's in last 10 fights
Saul Alvarez - IMO, still green but a bull. Styles makes fights. WBC champ
Cornelius Bundradge - IBF champ and needs a fight beside the contender to be on center stage
Cory Spinks - recent win and when he's in great shape, a style that can give a lot of people problems
Vanes Martirosyan - chasing Saul. But too needs a mainstream fight
James Kirkland - Got to get back on his Wolfe. Again, styles makes fights

Yep, Martinez would've been just as surprised that punch landed and with such force. He wasn't looking and was trying to avoid Williams punch, it did land and landed hard. How Williams manages to handle the psychological barrier is the question this week.
I am not that convinced about Martinez.

I couldn't agree more!!! Every time I see him fight, I always say to Danny that if I got anywhere near him, I would cut that shit off his chin.
If I'm not mistaken, can't a fighter request for their opposition to shave that shit off if they feel it could be troublesome during the fight? As in, if they are holding and he rubs that shit in someone's eye or into a cut, because he could easily do that with his height advantage. I would request it, just to get into his head.
Anyways, to answer the question, don't know, don't care. Never was a fan of Williams, something about him just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it was the whole "I'm the most feared man in boxing" crap. I guess he can't say that now.
BTW, that's my fav knock out. I've watched that probably at least 250 times! I just sit there and hit that 7 second rewind button on my dvr over and over again. My son was also watching the fight with me, and he went nuts when it happened. I still crack up when I watch it, and I hear Bob Papa saying loudly "good left hand, and down goes Williams", you hear in the background Kellerman saying "Hoooly Christ".![]()
Yeah it's a tall order, this thread just got me thinking. Can anyone think of a high profile fighter who was viciously KO'ed like that and then rebounded to beat a solid opponent in their very next fight? I'm sure there are tons of examples, but in recent history, I'm completely at a loss.
