Boxing tutors in a lot of the cases have very little idea what they are on about. Many have never had bouts or even sparred to a particularly good level. May not be true in this case, but I know many like this. Only sparring with amateurs at either your level or generally better than you will improve you & only under the guidance of an knowledgeable coach. Whereabouts do you live? I might be able to suggest an ABC that would help you improve quicker & let you know whether it's what you really want to do.
I live in the area of Junction 11 of the M6 motorway
I don't know the area or any clubs there myself, but using the ABA club finder Club Finder - Amateur Boxing Association of England Limited I've found these.

I don't know which is the best or nearest to you, but I'd give them a call about going down so that they can give you advice & get a better look at where you are. Most importantly from your perspective, if they believe you're ready, you will get sparring. But, they are the people to go to if you want to take this seriously. I hope that helps & let us know how you get on![]()
I now quite a few of you have rejections from doin sparrin with mates outside the boxin club... BUT experience is experience, bein in the sparrin situation and getting use to gettin hit and generally experiencin and getting comfortable with it. I was just sayin because in myself i'm ready to do sparrin now, i have high condidence about myself and wouldn't mind if the coach puts me in the deep end by puttin me in to do sparrin. Whats ur thoughts of this? Do coaches generally let you go into sparrin? because i have heard they only let you in if u are ready, but with the self believe i'am certainly ready
Experience is not experience. Your mates don't know what they are doing, so you aren't learning anything. If you are getting caught by friends who don't box, you are likely not ready to be sparring with amateurs. Go to an amateur club & let the coaches have a look at you. They have years of experience knowing what level you are at & how you can improve. Trust their opinion, they may put you in or they may not, but truthfully they will know what is best for you.
"experience is experience"... There speaks the voice of inexperience![]()
