So what do I do on this bag now anyway?
My plan is to do a few weeks on this, get my arms a little more conditioned and then get into a boxing gym.
But what do I do? Because at the minute I'm just unleashing combos, without much planning, trying to move around the bag whilst also trying to mix up which hand I'm leading and jabbing with (my thoughts are that if I'm that new, just try and not have a favoured stance and be more versatile) although frustratingly I feel so much better jabbing with my right (I'm right handed) I feel I can move better around the bag and it just feels more comfortable.
I've watched a load of the videos of others on bags, but they just seem to be swinging and doing similar to me (mostly jab, straight/ hook) but without much of a routine or a drill.
Should I be trying to do drills or working on certain things?
Or should I just enjoy punching the bag for the time being?
I'm trying to be conscious of what I'm doing regards to feet and hand position, just to try and get it embedded in what I do and hopefully to be able to do it without thought after a while.
Ive decided my goal is to be able to get into a position to be able to have at least one amateur fight, hopefully within the next 12-18 months. If I can have one, at least I can say I've done it. But I'm not doing it until im in a position where I feel like I could win (I'm such a bad loser, hate it, so need to make sure I'm at least a little good to have a chance of winning) So I've got a very long way to go.
But for someone who has talked about doing it for an age like me, it feels good to know I've found a gym and have a bag to punch when ever I like at home. Feels like progress on the road to becoming the GOAT!
