But when I look at the competition he really faced? MAB then a major drop to Romero and Ayala and then who?

Am I too harsh on poor Johnny?

You know that's a SPECTACULAR call. Because without looking his record up to refresh my memory? The Molinares foul is one of my first recollections of Starling. And it is completely unfair.

I vote Kid Gavillan, never got knocked out and if I am correct, never went down neither. In over. 150 fights, never going down/getting knocked out, that's quite amazing.

Geeze he was never even off his feet?

Two fights with Robinson, three with Ike Williams, Bobo Olson, two with Beau Jack. That's what 250-300 KO's among them and they never even dropped Gavilan?

    Unbelievable!

Correction, knocked down... only twice. Which is indeed extraordinary and still why I think he had the most awesome jaw ever.

    GREAT list!

I still, for the life of me, cannot figure out how Vito Antuofuermo became undisputed middleweight champion.

But wasn't Grim bounced off the deck like a beach ball as habit? From what I've read cause God knows I've not seen him he always got up with 1 or 2 exceptions. Maybe he had a bigger heart...or was just off his rocker
