Anyone who actually thinks Peter was justified in getting the decision just doesn't know anything about boxing... I saw the fight for a second time last night. Peter won no more than 4 rounds any way you slice it... I had to give a round that I personally scored for Toney but was reasonably close, just to find the 4 rounds Peter could have won... Add the point deduction and he clearly didn't deserve to win. It WAS a robbery.

I still think the fight was too close. IMO there was only a couple of rounds that each fighter won convincingly all of the others were dependant on how you scored a fight. My only problem with the decision (like many others) was the wide margin.

I just don't get it.. .Can you tell me 6 rounds that you could give to Peter. I thought Toney CLEARLY took every round from 6-11, and at least 2 of the first 5.... One good punch isn't enough to make a round, "too close to call", when one guy has been consistently outlanding and outboxing the other.

    Dear Toney,
I think you should retire. I haven't fought in 8 years but I think even I can beat you now.

First time poster here. I feel that Toney won the fight Easily, Clean punches landed, hard snapping jabs. Yes Peter did have him hurt with clubbing punches to the back of the head as Toney was bent over but its a round by round contest. Most rounds were easy to score, punch stats would have been hugely in favor of Toney. Ya gotta feel for the guy, super talent, beats Ruiz,Hasim Rahman(IN my opinion) and now Peter, all 3 legit contenders and what does he have to show?? No one has done as much recently in the division. If he has a weakness its probably that he doesn't have big time pop to use against the monsters.
As for his weight,it doesn't overly effect his stamina by watching him he didn't look gassed in any of the fights.but his upper body and arms looked huge! i think they said 18" bicep!. maybe a few pounds off and more road work will help sway a judge or 2 in the future. I really hope he continues on,and think his skill will take him a long way yet...who knows how far. Birds skill wasn't enough against Klitch so maybe Toney will have trouble against Big men who are technically sound.

Even though I do believe that he won the last fight, I really don't think that Peter is very skilled and I feel that Toney should drop down to cruiser where he can actually hurt fighters with his punches. Yes they were good and clean but in this division he just doesn't have the power to do what needs to be done.

Disagree fully here... If he could even fathomably get down to cruiserweight, why would he bother?? What he needs to do is come in at 210-225 for HW fights, then he can throw much better combinations and that's where he can hurt the big guys. Who could he fight at cruiserweight... Especially since if he managed to make the weight he would be either drained as fuck or in fantastic shape... Either way, no great matchups to be made. The best cruisers out there would be no match for Toney in shape, imo.

    Dear Peter,
Will you please learn how to fight instead of eating so many jabs and combinations?

, Hulk. You reallly hit the nail on the head.
Thank you. CC back at ya. Seems we are about the only ones with any sense regarding this topic. Lot of folks who hate Toney, accept this BS decision, just becus they hate Toney.

I can't disagree with that! Its just a shame that after each fight where he comes in somewhat over in our expectations we need to keep reiterating these same points...

I would love Toney to come in at 215 pounds, I just cant help thinking those days are gone now

    1) Perhaps a rematch with Peter

    2) He hasn't managed to get a decision in his last 2 fights, so should he perhaps hang up the gloves?
He isnt getting any younger at 38. And what with his eating habits and recent injuries. Maybe this
    is a suitable option

    3) Possibly a rematch with Rahman. But considering Rahmans desperate loss to Maskaev would this
    really be a feasible option?

I dont know really, its too soon since the fight for me to think straight. What do you guys think concerning the future of James Toney?
