    Nice one!

Hopefully hes knuckling down and smashing sparring partners up as we speak! Carrying on the momentum from his last fight, while Cotto is struggling to hit the pads because of his surgery

And yet you're not a hater, right?
    Dumb fuck.
    Dont cry little one...

Just because your fellow countryman is going to get his head stoved in, again

Just make sure you're in here after the opposite happens. Haters like you have a bad habit of disappearing for awhile after losing a fight. Make sure you man up (if that's possible) after the very Cotto you so despise rips Mayorga a new one.... ok?
you know he's not gonna watch the fight, afterall he himself said he doesn't watch Cotto fights, he's probably gonna be tuned in to Animal Planet watching Mike Tyson playing with pigeons

    You 2 girls

You will be watching Cotto gloves high skirting the ring sideways through the gaps in your fingers as Mayorga knocks him around the ring with overhand rights, like a pinball machine

One thing is to dislike a fighter..... quite another is to wish he climbs into the ring still hurting from his shoulder surgery. The only explanation I can fathom is he probably got buttf*cked in his childhood by someone who looks very much like Cotto.

Then again... he's probably upset 'cause the offender never called him for a 2nd date.

Go on boxrec and look at his schedule of fights. Since Trinidad its been once a year, his last fight was the first in over 2. Even the Trinidad fight he was out 6 months before. I know alot of other fighters have these absenses and still do well but they have a bit more love for the sport than Ricardo does. He wants money which is why he doesnt mind taking these big fights when he knows hes not going to be ready.

I think if hed have fought only 2 or 3 months before the Trinidad fight or the fight had been at light middle that Ricardo would have won. He was doing well and hurting Trinidad until he ran out of steam in the 4th and just allowed Trinidad to work on him. Felix couldnt dent his chin still, it was a body shot. ricardo needs to be active and fighting at a decent weight to force him to train. Hes not technically gifted but is tough and strong. When Mosley fought him he said that Oscar warned him that Mayorga is "very heavy handed".

I just think that these 9 rounds hes just got done will do his chances the world of good. He didnt have a lot of notice for the fight but fought a decent pace for 9 rounds and still had the power to wobble and drop Walker in the 9th and Walker is a solid middle that Andy Lee couldnt drop in Walkers previous fight.

As long as Ricardo trains and trains hard I think he could put Cotto in to his shell. Especially if he starts fast and lands something decent early. Iv always thought Ricardo would beat Cotto. Maybe hes too old now and the legs have slowed but the Mayroga that beat Forrest in those fights would ruin Cotto and would have given Mayweather and Pacquiao some exciting fights too.
This is my first post in this topic. This is why I think Mayorga wins.

Also. Who gave Mosley a harder fight, Margarito or Mayorga? and who battered Cotto? If Margarito can do that, a slow not very powerfull fighter, then Mayorga certainly has a chance!
Well if you gone on the logic of who gave Mosley a harder fight, Cotto fucking beat him, and Mayorga got sparked by him. So really, that is stupid logic.

Cotto has fought a few big punching wild swingers and come out on top. De La Hoya picked his shots against Mayorga and absolutely beat the crap out of him. Cotto is a skilled, methodical nasty bastard inside a boxing ring. He will pick Mayorga off all night and won't hear the final bell.

Like Titofan said, make sure you come in here after the fight. I'll sig bet with you if you're so damn sure. Put your money where your mouth is.

To be fair, both men gave Mosley a hard nights work and Mosley was fighting at different weights. In this fight Cotto will be in Mayorga's ballpark and that will have an impact. Cotto has had one fight at 154 and that was against a JMW version of Paulie Malignaggi. I also think Mosley went into the Cotto fight respecting Cotto a little too much early on.

I'm not as certain as Ross as I sit on the fence a lot more these days, but Mayorga anywhere near his best is likely a tough nights work for Cotto. As much as I dislike DLH, I don't think Cotto is on the same level as DLH was when DLH toyed with Mayorga. Cotto has a lot of question marks over him and that Pac fight must have taken a lot too.

Cotto should really be at 147, he is such a small JMW. Mayorga will balloon above him and will likely try and rough him up and it isn't as though Cotto doesn't cut these days.

Mayorga hasn't fought at 154 since 2008, 3 of his last 4 losses have been by KO, whatever big names he's fought in the last 6 yrs he's lost against (apart from a shot Vargas)

i have no doubt in my mind that Cotto will dominate and stop Mayorga

True, and he is extremely inactive too. But Cotto at 154 hasn't really proven anything yet either and he is coming off a long layoff himself.

Maybe Cotto will do what you say, but I think Mayorga is dangerous. Cotto wasn't exactly walking through fighters at 147, so to think he will walk through Mayorga at 154 is reaching.

Cotto's size does represent a minus when you stack up the different factors. I also think Cotto's best weight is 147, given his height and reach. On the other hand, Cotto is 10 times the accomplished fighter Mayorga is. He's a better boxer, goes to the body whereas Mayorga is strictly a head hunter, and has a much better defense (that is... when he goes in with the right gameplan). Plus, having Stewart in his corner should help polish the few remaining glitches.

If I'm objective about it, the only chance I give Mayorga is the proverbial puncher's chance. He's a wild swinger, and can certainly hurt Cotto if he connects with one of his bombs.

However, I've lost all objectiveness about this fight, thanks largely to Ross's anti-Cotto rantings, including the straw that broke the camel's back when he wished that Cotto goes into the fight hampered by his shoulder surgery.

I'm not a Mayorga-hater, but now I'm hoping Cotto punishes him severely before KTFO him. THEN, I want to see Ross in here, manning up to his pre-fight comments. But as El Terrible said... he won't, mainly 'cause he ain't got the intestinal fortitude to admit when he's wrong.

So really, that is stupid logic.

i just find it ridiculous that a guy who hasn't seen basically ANY of Cotto's fights speaks as if he has him completely figured out

like i said IMO Cotto isn't anywhere as finished as some think, and with Steward in his corner he's going to surprise quite a few people this year

I haven't read through this thread completely, but are you suggesting that I haven't seen all of Cotto's recent fights? I've seen all of them, like I watch every other fighter. Surely that's to Ross, right?

I really don't think Steward is the difference though. He really does add only a few things to a fighter and the jab is the main thing. And at 154 agaisnt Mayorga, that isn't the main punch. Still, I am curious. Mayorga is a weird kind of customer, I wouldn't rule him out.

no no no hahaha it wasn't directed to you hahaha

ross admitted to not having seen many if any of Cotto's fights, yet then he acts as if he has him figured out, complete lunacy

Steward wont teach him much but he'll have him taking his preparations seriously, which was his main flaw with his uncle, and well against Pacquiao and Clottey Cotto basically had NO trainer, his corner was a mess

Fair points, but I'm not going to get into the mudslinging thing as I don't care for that.

Every good poster should man up after a loss though and that is something I have always done, and believe me, it's happened more than once!
hell i've done it everytime Pacquiao beat my pick lol

i just find it ridiculous that a guy who hasn't seen basically ANY of Cotto's fights speaks as if he has him completely figured out

like i said IMO Cotto isn't anywhere as finished as some think, and with Steward in his corner he's going to surprise quite a few people this year
I haven't read through this thread completely, but are you suggesting that I haven't seen all of Cotto's recent fights?

Right OK, im not proud of this but will admit to watching some of Cottos fights. Only whatever has been available on UK TV and youtube though. I wouldnt go out of my way to download or buy anything because I find his style dull. I watched the Ndou fight (the fight that gave the impression of his dullness) and the torres fight on our TV. I remember when the Malignaggi fight came about and reading that he gave Cotto a hard fight but then I watch a comebacking Hatton do him in I watched him run from Mosley, get ebaten up by Margarito with his punches having no effect. Watch a headhunting Mosley stalk him until Mosley decidid to throw a few shots and Cotto go in to his shell. I saw Pacquiao basiclly do the same as Margarito did and read how shite he looked against Clotty.

Mayorga only has 6.5lb to lose from his last fight. OK he would have weighed in a bit more than that but he got down to 162.5 in only 4 weeks. Hes bassicly carrying on from that ad will have no worrys of losing weight or being weight drained! He will be sharp from those 9 rounds, fit and healthy from being on weight properly.

Like I originally said, Mayorgas age might hurt him but he has more going for him in this fight than he did against Mosley, De La Hoya and Trinidad. Hes been recently active and that is the only thing I believe that has hurt his performaces in the past. Hes never going to give anyone a boxing lesson but he needs to have stamina to keep that fast pace of his going, not only that but he tires himself too quick when ot in shape by loading up on every shot!

Watch the pace he kept in the second Forrest fight! Only Mayweather I believe would handle that today of all the Welters. Anyone that gets hit would be pray.
