Yes, Paulo di Canio .... It's just what we need in Britain right now. Yet another posturing delusional quasi fascist in the public eye or washing all over social media

Sorry, was the mention of Gary Neville not enough to indicate that my last post was laced with a strong dose of ?

As an aside though, I do like the crazy Italian, and the fact that he always had such a bond with the fans made him popular in most places he went.

Way too inexperienced for the job, he would be slaughtered.

I would not mind Southgate/Shearer/Gazza/Waddle partnership with Venables/Hoddle playing a supporting role.

What did you guys expect with Woy at the helm? Everyone and their brother know he's shit.

I think right now is the time to turn the entire squad over, have no "locks" for the team, have everyone earn it. Time to start prepping for the World Cup with the Olympics coming up this summer.

The United States is in a similar spot with Klinsman....he's been so so but hasn't really done the job everyone wanted him to do.

England has talented players, but they never play well together. The United States have players that can play well together but they aren't so individually talented. How is it so difficult to get a good England squad together?

I say give it a Shearer. He certainly wants it enough and I bet Southgate is actually shitting himself he'll be offered it.

    Why can't we play as a team ? I just don't know.

They caved in big time and I think mentally they were panicking about losing from the 50th minute onwards.

    Humiliation.

I was so fucking angry. Still am

He messed up his last job at Wolves way back 2006. Way out of touch.
I still think that overlooking Gary Neville would be a mistake. Paolo Di Canio could maybe do a job there.
Graham Taylor is out of work I hear. Or Steve McClaren.

Everyone is harsh on england I think, they just don't have that good of a squad right now. The "golden generation" of terry, lampard and gerrard(:S) has fairly recently departed and now they are just a bit between era, they just need their young and inexperienced players to keep at it and get more experience. Although the way the press and fans beat em up it could be hard for england to develop properly, there seems to be a lot of unnecessary pressure following the team always.. The squad was one of the weakest for england for quite a while and it didn't work out for them. No need to crucify them.

Iceland are also way better than people seem to be giving them credit for, they were 25th in the world last year, which is not great but it's not like it's a bunch of fishermen england lost to. They finished ahead of the dutch and turkey in their qualifying group, and then beat austria and finished ahead of portugal in the group stage :S.... Lars Lagerback is also a very experienced manager. Good work from iceland, this team has been coming for a while, I remember back in 2010 their under 21 team gave scotland a going over in the qualifiers for some under 21 competition( i think european)... it is icelands golden generation right now and hats off to them.

Quite right about Iceland, but what did England's "Golden Generation" ever do? They're probably more of a disappointment than this lot.

The squad is not brilliant but its not shit either - and even a mediocre team can be organised and show some fight.

    Sounds fairly bitter to me.
Now that my accumulator has been fucked by Portugal , I hope Wales beat them!
