I don't want to sell Lara out or short. He has pulled off surprising performances in the past plus he is healthy and unabused by the sport. He is not the typical Cuban boxer who gets lazy after a few years in the US.Originally Posted by Master

i don't mind erislandy but he's like forty two & although he's been stopping his opponents at middle they have been average at best. he might still be slick enough to last the distance

These two are like generations passing in the night but also in their division terribly under exposed and active at a top tier level. Lara remains very cagey and he's sitting down more on his shots but he's been riding the belt on a respected AARP program being honest. In Janibeks case I think Top Rank essentially failed him for the most part. He's called up everyone from Adames to Bud to Canelo to Boots on and on. But give me a unification any day and it's a great step. Historically 160 has been so much bigger and two champs sweeping it all into one pan I cannot argue with. Rather Adames v Janibek but hope this leads there. Wouldn't be shocked to see Janibek rattled early but actually out speed and beat up a stiff legged Lara forced to stand in down the stretch.

fights officially off. erislandy will now fight johan gonzalez. they should have just moved jesus ramos (who is on the same card) into the fight
