You're a classy fan cc. I was nervous, and perhaps a bit pessimistic (as were the setanta commentators), I thought that fight was pretty close, and Kessler sure showed a lot. He has a future certainly, I was actually a little gutted for him talking after the fight, he was very gracious and respectful. He had a game plan, and it worked when Calzaghe got sloppy or over excited, but lost the battle of the jab. Looking forward for his next fight.Originally Posted by thewhale

I had it 117-113 for Calzaghe. I picked the UD. Joe is just too fast. Don't want to see him fight Hopkins. Not a Hopkins fan at all. Great boxer but doesn't excite me as a fan. I'd love to see Calzaghe fight Taylor. When the fight was talked about, I'd hoped it would come about. I think Taylor would be a much better Super Middle than he was a Middle.

Great fight ... absolutely.
I couldn't get on Saddo's at all.
was reduced to watching it live on HBO/SopCast ... and a nice, steady feed it was, too. Couldn't believe it!
I was a little worried for Joe a couple of times ... looked like Kessler had the ability to end it fast if he had the opportunity. But Joe was amazing. Kick it up a notch. Bam.
"I felt his punches," says Joe, "but he felt my slaps." He's a comedian, too ...
Ganz gut.

I may be a yank...Ill regardless, much respect to Calzaghe...As Ive also mentioned previous![]()

Wicked good fight. Kessler got Joe's attention pretty early, and it looked like it took Joe several tough rounds to figure out how to deal with Kessler. I gotta agree that Kessler will most likely be a dominant force at 168 after Calzaghe moves on - he put on a hell of a fight tonight.
Calzaghe is great at getting inside the other guy's head. I was wowed by that tonight.
yeah, and interestingly, it seemed like all Joe really did was kick up his speed and put on the pressure ... didn't really figure Kessler out as much as he made it impossible for Kessler to figure him out. It's not like he demonstrated that he clearly had Kessler's number in particular ... he just remembered his own, and trusted it, and poured it on. Did what he does, in spades. And it worked.Originally Posted by bcollins

Well me bwoyo's...I'd like to thank you all once again for setting aside some time & sharing a few rounds with the Wackster this evening. The pleasure was all mine...& the bout was just B-E-A-Utiful.
I hope that Joe's performance pulled in a few new fans, silenced some of those baseless doubts, & shut his critics right the fuck up!
Again...to all the Kessler fans out there...be proud...your bwoy gave it his all & it takes two to make a great fight...& tonight we all witnessed one of the great fights of this year.
Cheers to all & I shall dish out the Obligatory Wacko Drunken Round by Rounds in the morn.
Much love people. Had a blast.
Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!

Hopkins is a whole different kind of game though, he would make Joe look sort of like Bika made him look.
I'd pay to see that fight though but im not flying all the way to england to see itThank god for hbo

Joe looked like utter shit and that was a complete robbery!!
Ha , just kidding Joe impressed me with his stamina and chin, he just responded everytime Kessler tried to launch any offense. It was a great fight, and Joe put on a show of hand speed and pretty good defense from both as well.

Having read your RBR wack, I must say Calzaghe sounds like he's impressed a whole heap of people tonight, and it was fantastic to be there and see it all unfold, but in the stadium I felt it to be a fairly tight fight.
There were a few times, especially early on where it looked as though Calzaghe was hurt, and from where I was sitting, it was more obvious to the crowd when Calzaghe was hurt than when Mikkel Kessler was hurt, because Calzaghe seemed to sag and stumble a little, whilst Kessler appeared to be less hurt. We were all quite surprised at the wide margin from one of the judges, but I guess it's all about perspective and from where you're seeing the fight.
And finally, I was pretty damned stoked when I got home too, because I'd put a triple bet on with Enzo Macc to win by KO, Calzaghe to win, and JMMarquez to win, and at about 7/1 with £20 on it, I'm happy with that too.
I'm looking forward to have another look at the fight on the box tomorrow afternoon, and I'll see how different it looks on the plasma screen.

calzaghe started winning the middle rounds mostly because of work rate but as the fight wore on, in my opinion, the biggest factor was kessler couldnt land on him throughout the whole round of any round from the 5th on while calzaghe was overwhelming him a little more and a little more by his consistant workrate until by the 11th it was turning into a blowout, and calzaghe wasnt just winning the rounds, but also winning by a larger margin....Originally Posted by superheavyrhun
but i could see how live with no commentary it would be hard to see that wide of a victory because kessler was landing and throwing the harder shots... but in the end calzaghe consistantcy throught 5 to 12 was amazing, while kessler fought hard for 45 second spurts...
