Ali would'nt have done very good in the 90's he was a shot fighter in 1981 getting beat by Berbickonly joking its a tough one he had great boxing ability and awesome speed but in the 90's heavys were bigger heavier and stronger he would have definately been undisputed champ but don't think he would have reigned as supreme as he did in his reign as champ in 60's and 70's
How would of Ali done against Chris Byrd![]()

Umm Byrd was quite fast would of made it tricky but Ali would win comfortable decision.Originally Posted by Jimboogie

havent been able to read on the posts on this subject so sorry if i repeat something someone else has said.just want to make the point that Ali would lose to the majority of the top heavyweights of the 90's.developments in training techniques, supplements etc,and the sheer size of the modern heavyweight make it very hard foir Ali to win.this isnt to say he isnt one of the top three heavyweights of all time.think of it like this-jesse owens won three olympic golds in 1936 in times that would be beaten by any college athlete worth his salt now, however owens remains one of the greatest sprinters of all time.if we are talking about how Ali would be if he grew up at the same time as lewis, tyson etc then it would be a somewhat different story

....I think if Ali was dancing all the time he'd do very well vs the majority of the heavyweights out there but doing the rope a dope vs guys like Lewis, Bowe, Wlad, Vitali would be a very bad idea.
And yes Majesty Ernie Terrell was 6'6 and taller than Ali but Terrell depended on his thug manager to win fights....Chuvalo beat his ass and yet lost and the Nation of Islam didn't allow that, they fucked Terrell's manager up.
Terrell also only weighed 212 1/2....same as Ali when they fought and that says to me Ali was in tremendous shape and had more muscle.
ofocurse ali would of got beaten, I dont know neccesarily by who but nobody is invincible.
If Ali got beat in the 70's he would of also got beaten in the 90's...simple, not logic but just an inevitable path of which no fighter can escape. Ali is no exception.

It seems if you even hint at anyone having a shot at beating Ali then people hate on you.
Ali was never unbeatable, he had trouble with a bunch of fighters, especially Joe Frazier
Who ever said he was unbeatable. Some of us are just arguing that some of the names from the 90's people are throwing around would have a hard time beating Ali. No fighter is unbeatable...but using common sense you can say that certain fighters would be heavily favored against others.
Your both right of course, but my gripe is the condition of Heavys today theres always been big heavys. But a few years ago skills won the day, today they think bigger is better and bollocks to skill and condition, One point about athletes someone mentioned Jesse Owens. His record stood at the Oylimpics for over 30 years and was beaten at altitude, if he ran today on an all weather track in good condition hed do 9/7 without drugs. There are more people in sport today a lot more because theres money in the 20s and 30s there were millions Boxing today its a minority sport theres not the competion there was. lewis would of beaten ali imo
In areas where Ali was superiour in such as speed, Lewis compensated in size and power
Lennox is a big athletic guy, definetly underrated i the eye of the british public
As for natural ability you could toss a coin; Ali is the best heavyweight of all time but according to 'Manny Steward' Lewis was the most gifted athlete he had ever seen.
Lewis wasn't the only one who could have/would have beaten Ali......Bowe was very athletic and VERY powerful and he could take punishment.....of course with Ali it's not so much power but accumulation of punches.
I don't think Bowe would do as well as people think Lyle because look at how shot Tony Tubbs out boxed Bowe and look how Holyfield beat him in rematch by sticking and moving i Think Bowe would have serious problems with Ali's movement imo from what i've seen.Originally Posted by Lyle
