Amir khan is simple to sum up. He's no where near as bad as his critics would have you belive but no where as good as his people are telling him he is. But he won today and that's all that matters.

    This is exactly right.

Going into the fight, we knew a few things
    1. Kotelnik would ball up as long as Khan was letting his hands go
    2. Khan doesn't have the power to hurt Kotelnik (who has a very good chin)

What we learned in this fight
    1. Khan has pretty damn good stamina, he was moving a lot and throwing a lot of punches and he didn't really tire until near the end of the 11th round. I was honestly impressed with that.

Looking back, you have to wonder how could anyone expect a different result? To use this fight as a measuring stick on 140 lb. division is pretty stupid, since noone else in the division fights even close to Kotelnik's style.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

In his last 3 fights since the Prescott disaster he has not just won he has completely outclassed his opponents.

Of the current lot at 140 there is nobody to be afraid of at all in my opinion.

I think he can beat Urango, Malignaggi and even Tim Bradley, Bradley none of them being big punchers either. Urango is tough but far too slow imo.

If he fights Marquez a year from now he beats him, as I've said many times before. But by then you lot will have written Marquez off so the win won't mean anything.
I think i was pretty fair with my assetment, im not big on John Murray either. I think he's an exciting/solid fighter. But he's nowhere near world class.

Well the 1st opponent he fought after the Breidis Prescott fight, was a complete bum who fought Kid Thunder or whoever. If he can't dominate him he should be a postman.

The MAB fight well you know my views on that, MAB was undersized. He had looked terrible in past warm up fights. And was clearly past his prime, MAB was also headbutted and the fight should of been a no contest.

I don't really count that im sorry but i don't, thats just an old legend who's ready for the taking. But he got off to a terrible start, based on a headbutt and could never get in the fight. And was fighting with one eye.

You know my views on the Andriy Kotelnik, because there above. But again i don't see how that fight proves he's ready for the likes of JMM. Let alone beating him which is crazy talk. But if he somehow beat him, i would give him credit why wouldn't i ? its not the same as the MAB fight.

But lets get one thing straight here, this is the first real solid opponent. Amir Khan has fought yes lets give him credit, which he deserves. But lets also not get silly here like your doing, because your a big Amir Khan fan.

I think there's plenty of 140 pounder's who could test him.

    Devon Alexander
    Junior Witter
    Marcos Rene Maidana
    Timothy Bradley
    Kendall Holt
    Ricardo Torres
    Lamont Peterson
    Mike Alvrado
    Randall Bailey

Any of these fights i would be fine with.
    You talk sense.

It's hard to get carried away with someone who has been on his arse quite a few times in his career.

The Sky commentators are a fucking joke, they would tell you that shit was great to eat. Amir Khan said Kotelnik was the worst World Champion out there and that was the consensus. Khan was favourite and I fully expected him to win this fight. He won it and I have seen improvements in Khan's game which is hats off to Roach imo.

I think Khan is a good fighter but the hype that surrounds him and the Frank Warren BS that surrounds him too is outrageous.

£15 ppv for Khan is sick. Too sick for words.
I don't £15 is bad value in all honesty. You got the Amir Khan world title fight, three of our top Olympians all fighting and a really intriguing junior middleweight showdown between Anthony Small and Matthew Hall.

That's not a bad lineup for £15, certainly better value than some of HBO's weaker offerings.

A lot of our HBO's lately have been free, including Diaz/Marquez

I think what would really shut up the critics is that if Khan takes on a guy like a Maidana or a Torres and wins. There are still a lot of questions that Khan still has to answered, but this fight imo is a step in the right direction.

Hell just take a look at a guy like Ricky Hatton who fought mainly bums for his first 33 or 34 fights and then catches Kostya when he's on the downside and everyone is singing his praises like he's the 2nd coming of Aaron Pryor and calling him an all time great.

Yeah but we are not talking about them, I'm on about their PPV offerings. Calzaghe Jones anyone? That was the shitest undercard in the history of the world.

Amir Khan made me ate my words. Congrats to him. His speed played a big part. He did exactly what Roach told him. For a second in the fight, I thought Pac was fighting Kotelnik with the in-n-out, side to side, and down and under move with lightning combinations. I'm also impressed with Kotelnik's defense.

I went back to sleep again immediately after the fight because I just cannot deal with getting up so early in the morning. I am not on suicide watch nor anything like that.

I read through the posts and someone said I had changed my tune in the wake of the result. I don't think so really, I have always said I want Khan to be brutally knocked out. I make no qualms about that, but I wasn't convinced Kotelnik would be able to do it. I was willing it on all through the fight but it wasn't to be. Kotelnik is slow and just wouldn't let his hands go enough. He landed the more telling shots of the fight though. Khan really is SO ineffective in his punching and combos. He will fire off a six punch combo and they will ALL hit the gloves. Quite awful really, flashy but not scoring punches at all.

All in all Khan fought quite well. He had a gameplan and generally stuck with it. but Khan himself dismissed Kotelnik before the fight was signed. Kotelnik is decent, but clearly the weakest of the 140 holders. Khan still has all those flaws and a decent fighter with output and a bit of power takes him out fairly routinely. Khan wastes a lot of energy because he knows he cannot stick around, a smarter fighter would take advantage.

Anyways, well done to Khan. I'm not all that impressed, but he won with little controversy. He got a belt and this is probably as far as his career will go now. He should enjoy this moment.

Let's see what is next, probably a mandatory or two against people we have never heard of and more fleecing of the PPV muppets. Hopefully not, but we shall see.

Just a cut and paste of mine from the other thread....

You need to get your head checked out mate. Khan would out-box Tony all day but the second Tony lands a semi-big shot, Khan will be on the floor dead. I'm all for people being positive towards Khan for once but you're going too far. I think Miles is going to try to kill you pretty soon...
I should kill him, but having seen his bizarre postings on Amir Khan on these threads it is patently obvious that this guy is mentally handicapped. I can't kill someone who is so obviously drooling all over the keyboard whilst surrounded by posters of Amir Khan trying to do topless tough guy poses. It's just sad, and we should take pity on people like this.

I might be a bit of a hater, but this guy is clearly a raving mentalist and needs special care.
