Pretty sure I said Whiney a** and I will say it again WHINEY a**..DON'T THINK THE WORD COWARD WAS THERE AT ALL....Calzaghe has to take some blame about things because he will sit at press confrences....Oh wait have you ever been to a press confrence OK now Didn't think so........But he will sit at pressers and complain he doesn't understand why he does not get the respect he deserves....He knows why......

As for the venue and the money....You make this fight and no matter where it is it will sell.....So you know S*** about it...This is not a freaking Arturo Gatti fight against some no body that needs Atlantic city to sell out...This is a fight fans everywhere want....

AS for Kessler being the Challenger last time I checked he was the owner of half the governing titles....He is undefeated....

@nd fight in 18 months You have the stones to sit and act like the Manfreado fight was something to consider legit!!!! Truth is Calzaghe should be embaressed about even allowing Warren to make that fight....

As for what I write on the form.....Has nothing to do with what I write for the general public to read...That shows how little in the head you have....The form is here to trash talk it is not for professional talk....How I act about my opinions of fighters has nothing to do with what I write on the Form...LEARN THE DIFFERENCE!!!!!
First off Manfredo....I don't care which boxer is in a press conference, he will not say that the opposition put in front of him is unworthy and a bum, unless that opponent is actually decent. I don't care who it is, they aren't going to say that cause they need to continue selling tickets, and whilst the real reason he was there was simply because he'd been on some boxing big brother or some shit like that.

As for the venue, it just doesn't make sense to hold it in a smaller venue where they can make a lot less money. Fight fans everywhere want this to happen yes, but where are you going to get the biggest audience....in one of the fighters' back yard. If you're in the supermarket, and there's shaving foam on a "Buy one get one free offer", you ain't going to take just one are you?

And this is just a question, but isn't Anthony Mundine the WBA champion these days? The WBA are weird with titles anyway...so is Kessler some sort of super champion or something like that?

For someone who considers himself a journalist there seems to be a lot of hating going on here, and a lack of knowledge. Two fights outside the UK, that's true, but he also fought Woodhall, Starie, Eubank, Reid (granted Eubank was hated at the time) in their home country of ENGLAND. Exactly how many times did the likes of Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather, B-hop fight outside of the US when they was number one?
    [/quote]

    Are you Frank Warren??

You are going to compare Joe Calzaghe to B-Hop,,Jones,,Mayweather Jr.....

    Calzaghe best opp...Bika, Lacey, Eubank,,Veit

Jones...Titles in 4 weight classes MW,SM,LH,HW...Hopkins, Toney, Ruiz, Grant, Pazienza, Griffin,, Hill

Mayweather Jr.... Titles at SF, LW,,SLW,,WW,,Jr MW..Corrales,, Castillo twice,, Corley,, Judah,, Mitchell, Baldomir,, De La Hoya,,

Hopkins--MW champ 11 years,,LHW Champion,, Roy Jones,,Trinidad,, Allen,, Holmes,, Joppy,, De La Hoya,, Eastman,, Tarver,, Taylor,, and soon to be fighting Wright

Do you see the level of competition difference.....Is it starting to become clear...

As for why they fought in America well that is because all the best fought here anyway...None would have had a problem with going anywhere else....

Since you made the BS statement about Challengers...Though Kessler has 2 of the big 4.....Evreyone of them were P4P hands down against the BEST!!!!!

I am now Positive you are Frank Warren
    Hopkins

The Manfredo part was just an example Rhun....This guy is not going to sing the praises of a guy who claims to be the best in his division now or ever then act like Joe only fights top caliber Opp and nothing less...Truth is the only person in this sport that goes out of his way to fight nothing but the best under any circumstances is DLH...W/L/D Oscar fights only the top ( though he seems not to fare all that well lately)

As far as Venue it really has nothing to do with this fight in particular but Joe and his career as a whole...

Hell Take the fight to Japan and the Tokyo Dome...The citicens there will attend any fighting event and a top fight like this would sell....and the Dome holds over 100,000.....and again if Calzaghe had ventured out to fight top guys in the past to other places besides home or his back yard then I would not even mention it...

Tghe purse is guarenteed anyway it is just the promoters getting fatter pockets..on occasion the fighter will take less for percentage of PPv but that is not the case here...

I hate the WBA and their Supr Champion junk...Either the guy is champion or not....WTF is a super champ supposed to be.It is almost worse then the interim champion the WBC is so fond of....

Yep, the fight should definitely be held in Tokyo. I could actually pop over and watch it then. A shame about all those thousands of others unable to go and cheer on their fighter though, eh?!

Just a question, but who are these other fighters that Calzaghe should have fought? Is it the same names that continue to crop up? Namely Jones and Hopkins? Well, they have a history and reputation for being difficult to make a deal with. In his actual weight group Calzaghe has beaten every worthwhile challenger out there. Ottke doesnt count because he too wanted nothing of Calzaghe. Calzaghe sticks around longer and longer and here he is, once again fighting the other best guy in his division. It really isnt all that new.

This will be a great fight. Possible fight of the year. But I dont expect Calzaghe to be on the losing end. Kessler will be fighting someone a little bit better than Beyer or Andrade!!

He will either sink or put up a spirited fight. A spirited defiance will allow him to get through the 12 rounds. Kessler will be competitive for the first few rounds but once Calzaghe gets into his rhythm then I see him pulling away from the 5th onwards. Maybe Kessler will surprise me. Hehehe. We shall see.

It was a money issue that it would be held in Wales rather than Denmark, even if it wasn't, Joe's number 1 at the moment and it's up to the challenger to make the flight.

You can criticise some of his opponents to date, but don't you dare call him whiney a** or a coward, after the Jeff Lacy fight this will be his 2nd fight in 18 months he's fought against THE fighter considered most dangerous to him at the time, the two fighters which the so called hard core fans on websites such as this clamoured for him to fight.

What I took exception to was your tone in personally attacking Calzaghe, insinuating he's been actively avoiding the toughest fights, even though he's just signed up to fight what's considered to be the toughest opponent out there for him at the moment, just as Lacy was considered the toughest fight for him way back when.

The other part of your post I thought you got wrong was criticising him for hometown fights. As I already mentioned, he has fought often in England against English opponents where he was not the most backed fighter. I'm not going to stand here and say Joe has been travelling round the world looking for fights, but, apart from Winky (and Hatton to an extent), who the hell has? So I don't see why Joe should be singled out for criticism for this aspect of his career.

As Miles said, the only two names missing on his resume is Jones and Hopkins, offers were made to these fighters but they refused (not criticising them for that. they were the established names at the time and it was up to Joe to travel) however my point is he was never given a counter offer by these guys to go over there, so he can't be accused of being a ducker.

By the way, I'm not a fan of Frank Warren, but to be honest I can't think of a single promoter that I would be a fan of, it's not a profession which attracts pleasant people. I was horrified myself when I heard Manfredo was going to be his opponent last time out.

If he was signed up to fight another bum this sort of criticism would be justified, but for fucks sakes he's signed up fight the guy everyone wants him to fight, what more can he do?

I will however apologise for bringing up your journalism into the debate, as a fan you certainly have a right to express your personal opinion on this board, and I shouldn't have expected complete impartialism from you.

Let's get one thing straight here....
Whoevers the dumb! F*** to come on here and start S***! and ride of Kess is just that a fwocken idiot.

    Heres what I'm getting to.....
If Joe beats Kess regardless of how he does it, Joe will have earned the respect he has been claiming.
Whoever thinks otherwise is just a wanker and is here to start S***.
Not only that but if Joe embaresses Kess whoa!! he will def. catapult in all-time rankings and def. as one of the best fighters of our times.

I mean these are 2 fighters in their primes, undefeated, established Champs with decent records some questionable opponents. Some people say Kess has fought the more prominent names some people say Joes the one with the better quality of opposition. Whatever the case maybe they are fighting eachother and all that goes out the window come that night.
But you can't discredit their undefeated records either cause they also make for interesting talk. This is like Lloyd vs. Donald, 'Finito' vs. Alvarez as far as records or like Gonzalez vs. Carbajal, Naz vs. MAB, ODLH vs. SSM as far as fighters at their best at the time of the fight.

Also the same should apply for Kess if he defeats Joe. No excuses if Joe is the man at SMW and is defeated by Kess then Kess becomes the man at SMW.

So please Kess fans be gracious in victory and defeat don't come here just talking S***! Some of you guys give him a bad name with some of the stuff you guys post. I know those memmbers are no longer here
but to those who may come give credit to whoever wins. I know I will.

The fight is in Wales. If Kessler dominates Calzaghe but for some reason does not get the decision. I will give Calzaghe no credit what's so ever.

What if we turn that statement on it's head..would you give Kessler any credit?
Joe was willing to travel to Denmark which is fact and financially it makes no sense for either to fight their so he can't be blamed really can he?
Oh I think there's more of a chance of Calzaghe getting a shady deal than Kessler. But if so I will give Kessler no credit as well.
and if calzaghe wins clearly, then what?

you gunna give him respect, or just talk about how he 'ducked' johnson or his a hometown fighter?
Violent D does not shy away from giving a fighter his due if it's earned. Question is can you Preme (the one with the Calzaghe poster on his bed room wall) admit your fighter is overrated if he was to easily get blown out?
Sorry im not a kid with posters on his walls or gets sent to juvi like some postes on here

you already asked me this, and i answerd you... Plain and simple yes... but i know it wont happen

Any fighter who is said to be world class and gets 'blow out' would be overrated...
I ain't been to juvi in 13 years.
    whata guy
We can't all grow up in an environment were you play video game all day long and have your mommy read you a bed time story before going to bed.
What, i mean to be ashamed that my 'mommy' loved me enough to read me a story at ngiht whe i was kid? Hey maybe if your mommy wasn't out all night dancer for $$$ she would of read you one too... Hell if that had happened maybe you wouldn't feel the need to come on forums trying to be so contreversial to get the attention here that you never got from home?

And to be honest there spanky, I would rather i was able to stay in and play my video games like Doom and shit as a kid than than try and make up for the loss by running around as a grown man like your self with a fucking bandana tied around my mouth and a spud gun lol....

Preme and Mikkel K, what im trying to say is that Calzaghe has been about the money his whole career, thats why he wont be remembered as a warrior but as a guy who dodged the best all his life and when he finally fought a non stiff he did it all on his terms. He has never travelled anywhere chasing a big fight.

Ok, so Joe has not fought top caliber opponents throughout his career, but again I will try and defend it with the old chestnut of him fighting in a fairly weak division, and I do feel criticism about him not making the step up to light-heavyweight to fight is a little harsh, as there was only one or two that might have been worthwhile, in Hopkins and RJJ, and while they tried to make them, they didn't happen, so that's the past.

And as for being a home fighter, I agree he hasn't really been tested outside his homeland, and that will affect his legacy long term, but from a purely selfish point of view....I like that the fights tend to be right on my doorstep!

In all fairness RJJ should have fought Calzaghe, Ottke and Darius Mechelewski(sp?) and we wouldn't even be having this conversation about Joe's opposition. I'm sure Ottke and Darius were just as much to blame for them not fighting RJJ or Joe though.

I used to blast Roy for not making sure he fought better opp at times...There was a period at LH when Roy fought out of shape busboys and bragged about winning

Atleast RJJ has fought some greats.
    Hopkins
    Toney
    And some top contenders
    Woods
    Hill
    Griffin
    Mcallum
    Joes biggest name is Lacy.
    The 2 dont compare.
