Hops didnt pay the sanctioning fees for the belts so i guess he is seriously retired. I just hope he stays retired cause theres no better way to go out. I dont think his family will allow him to fight anyway. There are no bigger goals to accomplish in the sport. Thats the pinnacle

I really wouldn't have expected to find much argument here either. Kind of surprising.

And I was equally surprised at the Hopkins doubters before the fight and even though I was silent on the issue, I thought Hopkins would win. I really was never sold on Tarver...ever.
CC,I don't believe it either bro, don't see what people are getting over excited about.Starr,I really can't be bothered to argue with you for arguments sake, your points,as per usual, have no vasis on either fact or relevance and Paulie was saying the same thing,Cotto fights 1 way, well,he didn't/couldn't do anything about it could he and second,I don't think you know enough about Miguel to say that,I mean, aren't you the one that said he does not counter(you definitely said that once),showing you have not seen alot of his earlier fights.
Yep,whoever said it,(can't remember)but Wack DRBD said it all,Cotto was smashing his head in! I'm no nuthugger,I was the first to say I was dissapponted by Miguel's showing against Torres, just because I am a fan of someone does not mean I'll let it cloud my judgement.

The fact that he said he didn't want a rematch right away and that he needs a few fights to gain more experience shows good character and sportsmanship which I didn't think he had. He gave Cotto his due and acknowledged he was out of his league a bit. That being said, it's funny how many guys bought into the hype and started thinking he was going to win. I'm glad Cotto punished him into submission like that after all the talking that was being done by Mali. Cotto proved alot to me last night as far as handling a slick and speedy boxer. Now I feel more comfortable with him fighting a wider variety of fighters.
Excellent analysis and again, well pointed out,he did not ask for a rematch and acknoweldged he was out of his league,he would not hint/say things like that if the fight was as close as some of you suggest.CC. You can clearly clearly see Paile hardly touched Cotto's face because after the fight/post match press conference,Cotto had 1 mark,no matter how hard or soft someone hits,if they hit you alot, you get marked up,and as Cotto was not hit cleanly ofter,he was not marked up!!

After a long recovery over the weekend...I am proud to say that once again...in the predicitions...I was proven wrong.

Hopkins fought brilliantly & Tarver got his ass handed to him in supreme fashion.

When was the last time anyone had seen Tarver that fwocked up?!?!

    Oh...we are also unsticky now.

Well, considering that I logged off to watch both fights on sky, meant I eventually got some sleep at around 6am, and have pretty much either been unconcious or working since, so I thought that now I have found a lull, I'd throw my views on both fights into the blender, where they will get whizzed, digested into really small parts, and eventually come out as nothing resembling what I actually think.

First up was B-hop v Tarver, and to be honest, I had only seen sporadic clips of Tarver, and in most of them he looked pretty damn good. After hopkins' two previous defeats I did have some doubt that he might be too old, and that he would lose out as the fight went on and his fight dwindled, but here I am, dodging dinner as I am busy eating my words. Nonetheless, I think that Tarver just didn't turn up at all, he looked as if he'd smoked a few j's before coming into the ring, and half of him was floating outside the ring, watching himself get beaten up. Congrats to B-hop, and I hope he doesn't come out of retirement, now that he's sealed his legacy with the wonderful win over Tarver, mesmerising him, he just needs to kick back and enjoy the fruits of his labour throughout his career.

Now then, Cotto v Malignaggi. I though Mali did well early on, despite the knock down and the cut above his eye, and through bleary eyes I had it even at the halfway point. Bu as speedsters going up against classier heavier fighters will find, the gas starts to run out as the rounds go on, and as Paulie lost his speed, so he started to get hit more, and by the end then there was only going to be one winner, though Paulie showed absolute bags of heart to take it to the judges, and he should be applauded for that. However, I'm not sure who was hanging on the most, as I had to stand up for the last few rounds to stay awake!

Two good fights, a great evening of boxing, a very tiring weekend.

The only one holding on was Paulie. That's the only reason he saw the final bell.
