I can't sleep man! I'm wide awake and it's 3:00 am now I have a footy game tomorrow at 11:30 am, gotta be up by 10 so thats about 7 hiurs of sleep so far....
I just can't stop watching the fight.... I remember watching Vasquez-Gonzalez like 20 times in 1 week tonight I;ve seen the fight 3 times and round 7 like 40 times now....
My voice went out during the fight as I yelled 'Go Marquez' Go! Go Maqruwaez' Go! at my TV during the fight HOW close was JMM to KOing MAB? I mean MAB was almost out on his feet and the mo' fo' hung in only to comeback and knockdown JMM with a beauty of a right ahnd thahgt caught JMM on the chin! thats hjust amazing......

I sware JMM spent alot of enegry in that round trying to KO, MAB and he almost did.....
It was a great fight. I was on edge the entire time. I shouted at the television something rotten, started punching a pillow and was randomly stalking my way around the room. I was all over the place to be honest and the fight was only on at noon here!! I was completely frazzled by what was unfolding and was of course completely hooked!

Round 7 almost killed me. Just as you were yelling for Marquez, I was hollering for Barrera. I swear that the 7th round has taken a year off of my life!!! What drama!! Barrera was taking serious punishment and Marquez was hailing punches all over the place. That was SOOO difficult for me to endure. My hands were practically pulling the hair from my head!! And then the punch that Barrera clocked Marquez with for the knock down!! What a peach!!! Clearly a knock down and suddenly Barrera was back in it!!

I still cannot believe the Knock down wasnt called. A MAJOR mistake. I agree with you Mick that Barrera was lucky not to have been disqualified for that uppercut whilst Marquez was down. Im a huge Barrera fan but in no way will I defend him releasing that uppercut!! It was wrong. I couldnt believe what I was seeing when he did that!

Anyways, I hope you manage to get at least some sleep tonight!!!

Well I know that when the saddo awards come around for the 2007 year then you'll be hard pressed to find a better round of boxing than that Round 7. It had everything in one small package, including the coffee maker, with JMM bossing it with some huge shots, Barrera looking as if he was done, then that huge desperation right as Marquez came in clocking him, and 95% of fighters would have been finished right there. Then there was the controversy, where it looked as though the ref either called a slip, or just decided to dish out some justice after the late shot. Absolutely cracking stuff and well worth staying up for!

What I really liked was both fighters going all out in the last 10 secs of almost all the rounds. Warriors both!

Great fight. Great fighters. I think the scoring was correct. Marquez won 8 or 9 rounds but he had to fight hard for all of them.

I'm here, no I ain't hiding. Just came in to face the 'consequence.' All right, I'll be hangin' around for a while so throw whatever you want, I'm ready...

(When I saw the 2-28 voting yesterday before sign-off, I wanted to back out but my pinoy pride wouldn't allow that so here I am...)

Seriously, first off, congratulations to all Marquez fans, and that includes you, Wacko for a well deserved victory!..

...I thought Barrera had what it takes to KO Marquez but I quess it wasn't there lastnight and probably never will again. I said that in first two rounds you'll know what'll probably happen and when I saw Barrera not coming forward but on the defensive, I kizzed my ko goodbye. The swarm of punches I was expecting never came...

BUT MARQUEZ WAS SIMPLY AWESOME!!! Though, I thought he was a bit slower and less accurate than in the Pac fight, the power was still there. And what the heck was that, he was the agressor, where's that pure counter-punching - he definitely didn't need one lastnight, though...

    So what can I say?

To Barrera fans all I can say is that maybe it was one fight just too many.

And to the Pac-fans, brace yourselves.
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

I give JMM a lot of credit cause he fought out of his element a little. He wanted to show that he could fight like a "Mexican fighter" and fight that way with the best. He coud have taken less chances imo and made it an easier fight but he didnt.

Maybe. I think once people get over the drama of the fight and rewatch it most will agree with me. After the KD, Marquez pretty much outpunched MAB in every round. Most rounds were close and Marquez's face gave the impression that the action was even but Marquez was landing the cleaner harder shots in virtually all of the last 8 rounds.

I don't se how he could've made it easier by taking less chances. MAB was working magic with the jab. It was Marquez's aggression and better firepower during exchanges that won him the fight.

I agree, and Marco said in the post fight he only hit Marquez because he thought the ref wasn't calling it a knockdown(because he neve so he followed up. So it was Jay Nady's fault and then he penalizes Barerra, Round 7 is a legendary round, but ir stepped in) t should have been ruled a knockdown

Great fight But those judges need to be fired!! 119-108 How the hell did that happen?

I think we may have another trilogy on our hands here

nothing to do with drama i see pretty close fight like everyone on here does barrera threw more and landed more marquez was slighty more accurate it was pretty even in every round except maybe 2 rounds i wouldnt have been disappointed if marquez got sd or barrera or even draw which i scored but like angel eyes just said 118-109 thats damn disgrace

You're entitled to your opinion. But like I said, when people rewatch the fight next week, most will see there's no contraversy. I honestly don't see any way MAB deserved a draw.

What rounds did you give to MAB?

Why are people blaming Nady for something MAB did?
I'm sure you read the post fight interview then also point out what MAB said....
"When I see blood I go for it. If Jay Nady was doing his job and stopped me once the knockdown occurred then I wouldn't have had the chance to hit (Marquez) when he was down."
So you see MAB knew JMM was down but hes saying that because Nady wasn't able to stop him he still threw.
I'm sure you've seen the picture Saddo posted Nadys clearly reaching for MABs hand I just think MAB said fuck it I'll throw hoping he could get await with it, but he didn't.......
As I said yesterday he (MAB) was very lucky that he made it through that round cause he could have easily been DQ'd.....

JMM kept hitting Barrera low but the biased ref did nothing . Barrera infringed the rules for the 1st time and it costs him 4 points ?!

    BS !
