I don't know if France will have the firepower to score against Italy... their defence has been immaculate and the own goal against the USA is their only blemish. Nesta will probably be returning too! Damn, you talk about a WALL at the back between him and Cannavaro.
I'd love to see Zidane cap off his career with winning another World cup though, he deserves it.

My moneys on the I TIES, Barthez has still to fuck up so i think he is leaving it till the Final, i agree i think France are going to struggle to open Italy up, im going 1-0 Italy, with big Toni banging the winner in.

Canavaro has been superb, Henry has managed to show up game after game & scoring, Totti has been moving the ball around and creating space....hmmmmm!

I say it's a 1-1 tie end of regulation and France wins the game with a Zizou goal towards the end of the 1st Extra Time.

If Zizou can win this World Cup where will yopu put him ranked ALL-TIME amongst the best?

    #1, #2, #3, #4, #5.........Where?

and if he doesn't do you think it will down grade his carrer?

In terms of achievements, few can come close to Zizou... winning this World Cup would just cement that further.
In terms of all round ability, I believe he is in a league of his own. The best player to ever touch a football! He can do it all. Like I said before, he is an artist. When he is on the ball, it's poetry in motion... in his prime, he just made a fool of anyone who tried to challenge him.
He can header better than most, he has a beautiful first touch, he can pass the ball short or long distances off either foot with insane accuracy, same goes for shooting. He can control a game like no other... his vision is unrivalled... he is a great leader... a fantastic dribbler with a huge array of skills and perfect balance. Probably most importantly though, he always rises to the occasion.
You couldn't ask for anymore! The perfect footballer.
Whether he wins the world cup or not wont make any difference to what he has achieved before and it certainly wont erase all of his unbelievable performances down through the years. He is the best, with or without this World Cup.

I agree with you Oggie on every aspect...CC.
I just saw a video of Zizou which happends to be the best video made IMO of a footy player, and WOW!! there was a handful of higghlights I had'ent seen before and I swear that ALMOST every single goal scored by Zizou was with at least 2 defenders on him and outside the large box.

IMO overall as a player including ability, cups, performances, longevity.....Zizou takes the cake and think it's because soccer is more exposed then in past times (50's, 60's, 70's ect. ect.)

I think I just did a list of my top players but REALLY thinking it over and without showing favoritisim to anyone.

Zizou, Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo in that order.....As of today

    Have a back man.
The highlight videos of Zizou are a sight to behold... he just made everything look so easy, like he had all the time in the world.
I remember Steve McManaman talking about him after he had left Real Madrid...
    The interviewer said:
"Steve, what was it like to train with Zidane?"
    McManaman replied:
"Oh, it was unbelievable... his talent is just... ridiculous really. Some of the things he can do... it's just ridiculous..."

Zidane was the master, no doubt about it.

France-Italy...I believe it is destiny for France to win this world cup,Zidane's cup as it should be re named. I agree,Italy have a mean mean defence but with the magic of Zizou, the pace and power of Franck on the wing and the pace and movment of Henry(something which Italian teams don't really like),I believe they will prove too good. I also believe France's experienced defenders can handle all of Italy's strikers, none of whom have been overly impressive until maybe the last match. I want Hnery to score so he can get that golden boot.
Mainly though,I want it to be a classic final, like Italy's semi final(which was an incredible match). This world cup has been slightly tainted with negative play, dissappointing teams and diving antics(England and Portugal come to mind the most) so I'd like to see both teams go for it from the beginning until the very end!
