    A prime isn't at a preconceived age.
A prime is just when yo hit it.
Tyson's style is a style that doesn't make for a long "prime".
He was a slugger, a 3 round basher.
He wasn't made to dance for 12 rounds & steal the fight in the last round by some brilliantly orchestrated moves.
He was a "floor it" kind of guy.
They never have a long career.

IMO Bruce Seldon had the best left jab in history... in his prime.
I watched him left-jab guys across the ring when he was coming up.
I mean, knock them GOOFY with a "set-up" punch.
HIs left jab was my favorite.

Tyson's prime was over by the time he fought Frank Bruno, there was no jab at all.

Let's see. The Tyson that fought that Jheri Curl person against Lennox Lewis that went on that tear after Holyfield.

I would pick Tyson. Since even then Lewis had weaknesses, the Heavyweight division just wasn't talented enough to expose them imo.

no its called truth i cant see how im embarrasing myself by saying u cant be out of ur prime at 23 or 24 physically u cant be mentally yes of course but not physically for boxer he didnt have any injuries or anything like that so i dont see how he can be past it and he wasnt past it like people make out he was koing everybody in 3 rounds or less in 1995 1996 he just met one tough cookie who could take his punches and was better fighter aka holyfield god why cant people admit he met his match every boxer meets there match sometime or another tyson was good fighter but he met his match so why cant people admit it and stop saying out of his prime blah blah and remember holyfield was past it more than tyson losing to bowe badly he looked shot and he was older than tyson and if people argue about tysons mentality then what about holyfield having heart troubles and losing badly to moorer and to bowe surely that affects boxers confidence

Tyson fans always say the same thing. "None of his losses came in his prime" But honestly when was the guys prime? I mean listening to some Tyson fans its like the guy had a 18 month period of time where he was in his mythical unbeatable prime. You can't have it both ways. Either the guy's fragile mental and emotional state kept him from ever capitalizing on his great physical gifts or he simply was never as great as many thought and lost fights when he was still very close to his best. Regardless you can't ignore what a fragile psyche Tyson had. All the "if he'd done this or done that" is crap. Tyson's personality makeup led him to making all of the bad decisions that culminated in the tailspin his career endured. Being a fighter takes a very particular type of person. Focus, discipline and dedication are just as important as great hand speed, power and chin. I mean honestly you make the same argument for lots of fighters. Take Bowe for instance. The night he first became champ he looked like the greatest HW of all time. So hey if the guy just could passed on a couple of cupcakes and spent a little more time in the gym he would never have lost. The point is he didn't have the dedication to be a great HW and his career went to shit. Tyson obviously didn't have the desire or focus and ultimately was missing a big part of what makes great champions. Heart, Determination and an almost masochistic work ethic.

He knocked out Robin Givens in his prime.
    Lewis never did.
