Jones did good. Won convincingly. But I'm kinda pissed he didn't try to take Tito outta there. Just let him go the distance. A bit disapointing IMO.

Decent fight Tito did a decent job for four rounds then Roy came on a bit and actually started throwing punches. One thing i did notice was Roy got ripped to the body an aweful lot and against a natural light heavyweight he would feel the affects of them punches a hell of a lot more. Roy turned back the clock and showed flashes of his old self but he was lathargic at time especially in the opening rounds and it could have cost him.

Credit to both guys for putting on a half decent fight

I think he put on a great show im big Jones fan and i was impressed, because he wasn't so gun shy and he showed good offensive skills. I think you should be pleased being fellow Jones Jr fan that was the best Jones i have seen in ages.

Roy has always been able to take body shots, and took them often even closer to his prime(before he moved up to heavyweight) big guys like Gonzalez and that black italian guy who's name eludes me at the moment, but of them hit Roy to the body when he was on the ropes and it did nothing. McCallum hit him to the body and did nothing. Like Mayweather, he seems so well prepared in the midsection that nothing is hurting him there. I am more surprised people can take his body shots because he so fast he lands that right hand to the body like nobody else.

    I guess...
He fought like a man. Kept that guard up though which was smart. But damnit he promised a KO, coulda had it for sure, and it did not deliver.

I'm going to watch today's fights later and comment but let's calm down folks and put the fights into perspective. It was questionable whether Tito was going to have the power to hurt Jones in the way Tarver and Johnson did. I find it amazing that people are saying RJJ would beat JC/B Hop. Put the fight into perspective, look at the opponent, the weight etc etc. Let Jones fight someone at 175,a tough opponent, see how he does then and then we can say he is a match for Cal and BHop.

As for Tito,he lost but sounds as if he didn't look too bad.I still don't think he can fight at this weight against the guys in the 168 pound division,so I'm not really syre where he goes from here. I'm totally shocked that Roman lost?!

Guess who fell asleep during the Karmazin fight and only just woke up now. I'll give you a hint. It's me. Anyhow, gutted to have missed out but I'll be having a look at the replay this afternoon/evening hopefully, but if its a dull fight no doubt I'll be falling asleep again.

Very, very impressed by Jones. Jones vs. Clinton Woods woud be a good test for both. Then we can say truely how good Jones is right now.

    Has Tito retired yet ??

I just watched the fight, and I thought it was entertaining fight, especially the first 4-5 rounds. Tito was very spirited at the beginning, but once Roy started finding the range on his punches, Tito didn't have an answer, which wasn't surprising.

But I agree with Gamo, anyone who thinks Roy would beat Calzaghe or Hopkins is getting a little carried away. I would put either Calzaghe or Hopkins as a solid favorite to beat Roy... especially Calzaghe.

I don't think anyone disputes Joe would be a big favourite if they fought but I certainly think Roy is capable of pulling a suprise. He seems to have reinvented himself with a new Ali like style.

When you consider that prime Roy Jones was possibly the greatest fighter ever it's certainly not outside the realms of possibility that he could be smart enough to retune his style to adapt to his older, less mobile body.

Ali did it, Ray Robinson was able to roll back the years and Big George managed it also to a lesser degree. Roy Jones was certainly as good as those guys at his peak and it's possible in my opinion that he could be able to stun the world with a comeback worthy of those guys and position himself well inside the Top 10 greatest of all time list.

I'm not saying it WILL happen I'm saying it's POSSIBLE.

I don't think the hunger is there anymore to be honest. He was there last night to have fun. I'm not so sure he'd enjoy it so much against a world class light-heavy who has the will to win and the power to back it up.

Stil i was impressed with his speed and his showboating was entertaining. Tito actually looked pretty good, wasn't rusty at all imo. His timing was great....just a shame about the size difference.

I wouldn't get so carried away to predict Roy could beat Calzaghe or Hopkins, but i do think he'd still have enough to beat Clinton Woods....if he wanted it bad enough.

There are a lot of people who would strongly disagree with the parts in bold, including myself.

RJJ was fast.Tito was competetive for a few rounds. I agreed with Kellerman and Steward,RJJ controlled that fight. When RJJ came forward,he would own Tito.If he wanted to counter,he could. Tito's power had zero effect on Roy.

However,I still stand by my original statement. Jones was the bigger man and it showed. Against B Hop and JC in particular,he would not have as much of an advantage. I agree his speed was good,in single shots. I'm pretty confident in saying that Calzaghe would totally outwork him and win an easy UD. JC fights 3 minutes of every round,Jones doesn't. I'd love to see Jones beat up B Hop but I think Hop is too wiley for Jones at this stage in their careers,he would pick off Jone single shots and would counter Jones. I have zero interest in that fight,it would be a snooze fest imo.

As for Tito,he was game but he was ultimately over matched. Where does he go from here? Who knows. I don't think his power is effective at this weight and I don't think he can hang with the elite 168 pounders nor make 160. I would say retire but I know he won't.
