COME ON JOE!!!! GET A REAL OPPONENT!!! FIGHT SOMEBODY THAT IS UP TO THE CHALLENGE!!!!

If that person is not at 168 then move up and find them. Everybody knows he is the man at 168, why is he bothering to fight people like this. No offense to Green, but he is not there yet.

This is just disappointing. After the Lacy fight I am expecting better things from him.
At the end of the day if it is Green; Calzaghe is making top money, for minimum risk. Everyone is a winner, no one wants Calzaghe's home comming to fall flat because of a tough fight.

The fans at the Millennium Stadium, will not care if Joe wins 60 seconds, indeed they will love it.
But isn't fighting an unbeaten figther who is little known a big potential risk?

I mean sure Calzaghe will probably kick his a** but Green may just turn out to be a world beater, just he's an unknown quantity right now.

At least a fighting against a known opponent you are aware of what you are coming up against.
Of course you have a very good point. It is true, whenever you step in that ring, you never know what could happen, hence the reason I like the sport.

But you have to take calculated risks, and (for a fighter at Calzaghe's level), this is a relatively low risk fight, with a big pay day; if it happens.

This is way better than Manfredo, but it still won't be a close fight.
Green's not gonna win any rounds. This is too soon for him.

Calzaghe is at the stage of his career, where he cannot be exposed.

If he loses, you can put it down to Calzaghe peaking with the Lacy fight, and physically being ravaged from a long hard career.

Green is exciting, but lives up to his surname.

u gotta admit it would be real bad for calzaghe to have a loss to green at this point

i would imagine this will be on showtime, as green has been on showbox b4

If Joe loses, so be it, he is an old man with a bad back and a crippling hand injury, sooner or later he will get caught out, if he continues his career.

That is why unless he can get a huge pay day against a RJJ or Hopkins, I would call it a day after the July fight.

Anybody even ever heard of this boy?

At least his record looks good but I'm guessing he's going to be like a Thomas Daamgaard, ie, padded record and will be exposed.

Wow! We though Jones was not a good enough matchup, Manfredo was a a mismatch, this just kinda sucks
Green knocked out unbeaten New York Prospect Jaidon Codrington in 18 seconds 2 fights ago in ESPN's knock out of the year. Thats what he has to lay his hat on

I would not underestimate Allan Green; he is a force to be reckon with. Believe it or not, Allan Green is a superb fighter; he in many ways parallels Jermaine Taylor. Just because Calzaghe perform superbly against Lacy will not gaurantee similar outcome. Look at Raheem, who performed superbly against morales, but did poorly against Freitas. We may possibly see the passing of the torch in this fight...

I think Calzaghe believes he has not made the money he should of out of the sport. So I think he will carry on, until he can get a couple of huge paydays, which would mean stepping in the ring with a RJJ and/or Hopkins.

Not discrediting you because I only saw the Codrington fight and cant argue with you therefore, but what are you basing this on mrtko? Jus would be interested in checking out these fights to see if he is that great.
