I don't see Trinidad as being great, at least not in the manner Hearns was, I think Trinidad would have suffered a devastating knockout early.

Although it is a little unfair on Tito as Tommy was at his pomp as a 154lber IMO (indded I think he is the all-time #1 154lber), and Trinidad was at his best weighing 147lbs.

I respect the opinion of Hearns winning by knockout, but you dont consider Trinidad one of the greats? I think that is unfair, Trinidad is one of the greats. I think Hearns by late knockout but Trinidad would have damaged him also, especially with that suspect chin.

How can you not respect a man who was one of the Best P4P in the 80's His name was involved in some of the biggest fights of the era...Hagler-Hearns...Hearns-Duran
    Hearns-Leonard
Hearns-Pryor...I could go on...Win lose or draw Tommy was always in the big one....It didn't matter who you were though that right could end it any second....His Ko's of Duran and Shuler are two of the best one shot blast in history...

Hearns/Pryor was an amateur bout in the mid 70s, when Tommy was a powerpuff puncher; Bit I agree with the sentiments of your post [click]

You must reread that post, it says not in the manner Hearns was, Hearns was electrifying to see live, and I followed his career from his pro debut right to the end, sadly to say it has not completely ended but it is over with now. I did not follow Trinidads career as closely, Just like all fighters 47 years old the reflexes are not their. His last 2 fights were sorry to see although he has won but he lays on the ropes and covers when he's attacked, Hearns is an all time great, I don't know if that can be said about Trinidad.

That fight always depresses me. It was the last time we saw Tommy's right at his best, and it was the last time I saw Shuler.

Classy man Tommy is though; and the Motor City Cobra, gave back Shuler's NABF belt, to his widow at his funeral, a couple of weeks after the fight.

Yeah he was great and he could punch. One of the best boxer punchers ever. He got robbed so bad in his rematch with SRL.

I read the post correctly and once again I disagree. Felix Trinidad should be mentioned with the likes of Hearns (even though I think Hearns would win if they faced off). Felix Trinidad has been the classic slugger of this generation, knocking anybody out who stood toe to toe with him. Everybody from this generation feared his punching power and after a while they realized to defeat him you simply can not slug with the guy. Hearns had better punching power than Tito even though Tito packs heavy power, Tito has a better chin, but the overall difference would be that Hearns could also be a great technical boxer if he wanted and Tito only knows one direction and thats forward. Either way they will both have their pictures in the Hall of Fame.

I've seen them all, that was a strange night as Hagler and Hearns fought on the same card and if i'm not mistaken wasn't Shuler the #1 middleweight contender at the time, and Hagler fought John Mugabi who was the #1 Jr middle weight contender ??. I do remember Shuler died one week after the fight in a motorcycle accident.
