My boy Miguel needs to stop reading into the hype and being like a Tito going to war type of fighter. People only see him as they have seen from the Torres and Corley fight but get his career and tell me this boy is not a boxing genius. I know I'm backing him against Castillo,he just has to be smart, use a bit of lateral movemtn and he CERTAINLy has the power to keep JLC off,the probelm arises IF he goes to war in which case,Castillo has to be the favourite. What a warrior JLC is though, his first fight @ 140 being with a guy like Cotto!

If Malignaggi beats him none of this will happen.

I very rarely disagree with you but on this occasion,I feel I must. Cotto has the power to bang with anyone in my opinion,it's just he has the skils to avoid that type of fight. What makes you so sure JLC will win?

Wisdom, my friend, the word is wisdom. JLC is very well conditioned and owns enough ring generalship to overcome the young portorrican. Let me highlight few reasons why I see him fancy over Cotto:

It's no secret that in recent years JLC has been experiencing weight problems. He always fight around 150s on fight night, therefore his pretty much of a natural welter than anything else. His body has evolve naturally over the years that anytime he fight at lightweight he's forcing to make weight. His body size proves that(about same Cotto's size) He, like I pointed in other posts, have tremendous doses of experience. Not to mention his sparring partner days with great JC Chavez, he have faced levels of quality opponents that makes him comfortable to get self confident inside the ropes with any foe with relative ease. His chin and endurance is superb. The loses have come due to serious cuts (most of them product of headbuts) and Corrales got him out on his feets.
Castillo will not stand in front of Cotto waiting for him to come. Cotto is having trouble fighting in reverse; Jose Luis ko's instinct will smells Cotto's troubles and not gonna pass unnoticed if, let me say, a stunning left hook or right overhand makes Cotto accusing signs of trouble. He will go for the kill, what Corley or Torres didn't.

So does this mean castillo is looking past corrales? Not a good sign i reckon, i dont like it when fighters look past there opponent. Although im going for corrales...i want a good fight coz this is one fight i am able to get in aus and one that i will watch...unless im working on the day.

Yeah and if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle!

Cotto will go to war with JLC, I mean he likes it, he'll drop him and if Cotto is going to lose the other fighter is going to have to EARN IT.

Torres threw EVERYTHING at the guy and he couldn't stop him...I mean maybe someone else could have but Miguel is a hoss, he comes to brawl!

    don't worry he won't,

IMO Cotto Vs. Malignaggi = Chavez Vs. Camacho, extremely good, skilled, powerful boxer/puncher with a great left to the body, against a slick, quick, feather punching southpaw, the thing is it's going to be almost the exact same result, the only thing is it wont last the 12

i read somewhere that Malignaggi said that he's going to jab the whole night and try to keep Cotto off balance, seeing how he's a southpaw, him escessively using the jab leaves him right open for a counter left hook combo like Cotto loves doing, one to the body then another to the head

Naaa, regardless of the outcome of the fight,JLC is moving up. Anywa,if I just koed my opponent like he did Chico,I too would be confident.

CC,excellent points but I disagree,if you mean he has problems fighting backwards,no way. He is an excellent front foot and decent back foot fighter. Also,Torres DID go for the kill,he must have hit Cotto with 15 clean and he could not get the job. In a way, that was bad because it showed Cotto was vulnerable but I take out the positives,it proves Miguel has a great great chin. Also,JLC' wars will catch up to him at some point although I do admit he seems to be like some type of Mexican terminator, just keeps coming forward!! The thing is,Cotto has the power to hurt him and I know he can! That will keep Castillo off if he chooses to be the agressor which is usually the case!

    Scheduled for November apparently?!

i wonder if this will come off, its one hell of a match if it does, personally Cotto has got to be just too big, sources say he weighs almost 175lb when he steps into the ring.
That would be a hell of a fight. I think Castillo takes this one though. Just too tough for Cotto and Cotto doesn't have Corrales power as an equalizer.

That will be a factor IWO.

Cotto likes to bull his way in & if Castillo can keep Cotto on the end of his jab & follow up with the same left hook that stopped Corrales.

Cotto's got a hell of a lot better defense than Corrales & I am pretty much sure that he hits harder than Corrales...the problem is...if he get's a bit confident...he's gonna get fwocked. Castillo loads up on the same combo's that he was doggin Corrales with in the 2nd & 3rd rounds of their first fight...I just don't see Cotto being able to hold up to that kind of pressure long.

The fact that the two of them are the same height aint gonna be a factor if the bigger (& he's bigger) Castillo can get set. Castillo can throw such short shots in the pocket (shoulder to shoulder) & Cotto has in the past proven to be open to uppers.

I honestly wouldn't know how to pick this one...I know who I'd want to win...but you gotta pick with your head & not your heart.
Kinda doubt Cotto has Corrales power, personally. Cotto's more heavy-handed than anything. He doesn't have that natural one punch knockout power that Corrales has.

Castillo, in my opinion, has maybe the best chin in boxing. Easily top 3. Can't see Cotto holding him off or putting much of a dent in him. Who knows how the move up would affect Castillo though.
