Which Erik Morales, the one that fought Barerra (3rd time) Pacquiao and Raheem and Pacquiao or the Morales that fought Velardez and Carlos hernandez ?

He has boxing skill. He really does. He is a very fast, accurate and power puncher. He won't be outboxed am sure of it. I think if Mosquera beats him it is by testing his defense to the body and keeping the pressure on Valero. I don't think Mosquera posesses the tools needed to do that so I think Valero takes this one, I really do. That doesn't mean I think he is the next big thing (and that blackspot on the MRI hanging over his head really is scary) but I don't think Mosquera has the tools necessary to beat Valero.

Of course because he has boxed so few rounds that it's so hard to tell what he is really made of, and I am basing a lot of this assesment off a sparring session, so I could be deadwrong, but one thing I know for sure is that Valero isn't just a punch.

I think Mosquera is a bit inconsistent though and everything you wrote about Valero,my fave writer Doug Fsicher also said/says.Sparring or not,he shook Erik Morales to his boots via the chin,I've never ever seen that so his power is quite frightening. I hope Valero has all these skills,I need someone else to cheer if EM/MAB are on the way down.

I watched a couple of his fights and it looked like he tended to loop his shots. When he lands he got power behind them, but they tended to loop. I think someone that could move well and counter could wear him down over the course of a fight. In the fights I have seen Valero has never really been hit. In 19 fights and only have gone 20 rounds there is a good chance your not getting hit very much. I still think if someone can get past the first 4 rounds with him then he would lose, possibly (T)KO.

if the champ is any good, then Valero will be exposed...
He's a totally different fighter when he spars compared to when he actually fights for real. Even against bums, Valero looks like an amateur.

if valero can't finish mosquera within the first half of the fight, i see mosquera finishing him off or winning the decision.
