    Tarver would outbox him imo
    And yes, Lacy was overhyped

I think Tarver is the only guy he has a realistic chance of fighting soon, that has a realistic chance of winning... But it would by no means easy.. Who has Tarver ever really outboxed, he had to go through hell to do so against Glen Johnson and he was in trouble in both fights... He could barely outbox old Reggie Johnson who managed to drop him late.. And Eric Harding flat out beat him. Tarver isn't some great skilled boxer like ppl seem to think... If anything he is a half assed brawler because he just throws flurries for about 30 seconds or so per round... Having said that he is a very strong southpaw with a granite chin who is bigger then Calzaghe, and given the way they both like to fight I could see it being a very good match.. But I just think calzaghe can outwork Tarver, Tarver does what he did for 36 minutes against Lacy, for about 30 seconds every round.. And still manages to gass out late, but you never know how Calzaghe will handle Tarvers power, especially if he tastes some big shots.

i think cazaghe would handle tarver's power fine,he didnt go down once from the age of 12 til he fought mitchell, which is the only real knockdown of his career.in over 200 senior amateur fights he didnt go down once, and in 40 pro fights he has only been down once legitimately

I always thought lacy was overhyped and one dimensional. What a load of crap, styles make fights people and the only one of them with a style resembling lacy is danny green and he would get beaten by calzaghe. But kessler...the guy is F****** huge and he can hit....but he can box unlike lacy, it wouldnt be a walk in the park for joe. Mundine is very very quick, great evasive skills....not heaps powerful but he got some power..he knocked out thornberry which is something joe didnt. Beyer.....he aint great but when the odds are stacked against him he seems to fight well. He probably wouldnt beat joe but dont under estimate him. Like i said, all the respect in the world for joe and i think he is the man in the division but for god sake....he is not unbeatable, lacy was the first champ he had fought in something like 11 years and mostly the rest were nobodies. All the hype is just really starting to get to me and i think some people need reality checks.
Snakey...it's like this...to my knowledge...you never really followed Calzaghe closely...atleast not closely enough to pass good judgement.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion...so here's mine...& this is honesty...not just a slap for a slap.

I kind of felt the same way about Kostya that you do about Calzaghe. I personally don't think that Kostya is all that...not like everyone else does or did.

On the flip side...Calzaghe's a bit more worthy of having his balls tugged because he's undefeated & has defended his title for many years. Something that Kostya wasn't to sucessful at.

People on this site are going to be up in the air over the man because he is the people's champ of the region...just like I am sure that Kostya was & I am sure if you got on some Aussie site...that'd be all you would hear...the sound of Kostya's balls gently squeeking as they were squeezed...so let it go.

Now...Calzaghe's accomplishments...if you were to have followed his career...far surpass just beating Lacy. The total destruction of Lacy get's Calzaghe high praise because whether or not anyone wants to admit it...he was going to rule the division. Lacy is not one dimensional...he just got his ass kicked by a superior fighter. Lacy was not the only fighter that Calzaghe has fought & to say that the rest were nobodies shows that you know very little about the division that you are criticizing...which really surprises me.

As far as opponents go...I don't see anyone at 168 that can give him competition...not Kess, Beyer, Mundine, & all the rest.

Speaking of your countryman...Mundine & his chances against Calzaghe...oh my. Yes Mundine is quick but to say that he has great evasive skills is a stretch. Calzaghe might not have knocked out Thornberry...but Joe's never been beaten...Mundine's been whacked all around the ring & he also got his ass laid out by Sven Ottke. Sven Ottke...I mean...need I fwockin laugh?

Let's just wait & see how Joe does at 175lbs...there's where the competition lies.

Glen Johnson is the next opponent...maybe he will have the answers to the new questions that are now arising for Calzaghe.

Honestly... search the pair of thems posts... the talk about no one other than Kessler or Jeff Lacy...
Credit for what? Taking a worse beating than Ashira?

This is not like I after the fight start posting that Lacy was hyped and useless. It was clear from the first time I saw him box.

    damnz what hype
hype is someone who hasnt fought good opponents
who hasnt done anything to prove his worth
calzaghe is a tru champion with real boxing skillz
he's still undefeated and is willing to fight the best

    i dont get your point
think there are enuff others who really get hyped
    and arent worth shit
    go pick on them

lets see if you still feel the same
after he has beaten every worthy opponent available

Lacy cannot really be seen as hugely overhyped as he has held 2 of the major titles and a minor one. AND he is still rated as third best super-middleweight by the IBO who use a non-subjective ranking system, and he has only had 21 fights (17KOs, so that is only three fights he has won where he hasn't knocked out his oppo)

Although what is not on his side is he is knocking on the oor of 30 so can't have many years left in him. Lacy never attracted this much abuse until he was beaten by Calzaghe. He should be cut some slack, as he still has an impressive record

    Cheers Wacko

it winds me up because abuse aimed at Lacy is purely to discredit the calzaghe win. Which whatever way you look at it was an excellent show, it is not often you see a world chamion lose every single round. It is a shame that Calzaghe didn't get the perfect 120 cos of that cheeky behind the back punch

Snakey, I for one am getting tired of all the Hype as well. According to most on this forum now, Calzaghe is unbeatable from 168-175, its ridiculous. I honestly think some people on here are going to be in for a shock when he fights Johnson.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Calzaghe has fought everybody available to him, never ducked anybody, champ for 9 years - unbeaten in 41 fights, only losts about 2 of 130 amatuer fights and they were when he was about 16

    has fought and beaten:

Robin Reid - Held WBC Belt
Chris Eubank 2 weight WBO Champ
Charles Brewer - Held IBF belt
Byron Mitchell - Held IBF belt
Richie Woodhall - Heldl WBC belt
    Mario Veit - twice
Jeff Lacy - IBF Champ - The 2nd coming and new Mike Tyson

I make that guys that have held all 4 major belts - so not "Nobodies"

I'm not sure who his has failed to meet in the SMW division in his reign

Could say Jones or Hopkins, but his camp tried to make both of those fights

Mate... i dont need to follow someones career closely to comment on the bullshit being thrown around this forum. He aint unbeatable! How many times has calzaghe struggled to win against shit guys? Now he beats lacy hes unbeatable. How isnt lacy one dimensional? He looks for his power shot and trys to overwhelm his opponent with his power, he has no boxing skill. Styles make fights mate. Mundine got knocked out by ottke....have you seen the fight? Did you notice it was mundines 11th fight, did you notice he was beating ottke at the time of the ko and did you notice mundine was exhausted and that also he never even sparred for the fight? Answer this for me wacko, who hits harder...ottke or green and kessler? Coz hes fought kessler and green and hasnt been down. If kessler and calzaghe fight i think id tip joe....but not by much. He aint unbeatable and thats all im saying.
