I don't agree with that - yeh some of his opponents were not at their peak, but Robinson was WBO champion, Vasquez was WBA champion, Johnson was IBF champion, Medina, Kelly and Mccullough were former world champions - I don't see anybody he could've fought and didn't except Eric Morales and that fight never happenbded coz he lost to MAB

i dont believe he was a fake , i think was revolutionary knowone had ever seen a fighter like him at the time, his main flaw was that he was to cocky and abandoned his defence which ultimately led to his defeat against another great boxer. i think nas started believing that he couldnt be beaten, believing his own hype which was a shame ,i still think he was great at that time but he could of been a legend

Hamed never knew how to fight. And defense for him was trying to limbo. Leaning back with his hands down. His chin wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad either. He had no idea how to act whenever he got hit and his balance at times was poor. But that power. That power was for real. Like he once said, it was a gift from God (or Allah whatever). He had it in both hands and he knew it. Power and arrogance got him as high as he got.

Hamed is only seen as overrated by those who did not like him when he was boxing. When he was finally beaten everybody said look he wasn't that special anyway. 16 title defences would say otherwise, and the fact that at various times he held 3 of the 4 major belts. If it had been anybody else without the abrasive personality of Hamed he would not still be attracting this kind of abuse years on.

Naz had 15 straight TITLE DEFENCES....how could he be anything but a great fighter?!?!?! That is one of the highest title defences EVER!!
It feels good to be back home.

Naz was a very good boxer, just wasnt quite in the A* calibre of the likes of Barrera, Morales, Pac and JMM.

Had he applied himself as much to boxing as he did to his flying carpet ring entrances, he probably would have made a better place for himself in boxing history.

Hamed was a great show. I wish he were still boxing.

His skills were limited. He could do some unorthodox things - very agile, could bend backwards as one person mentioned, lean and come from odd angles with unexpected punches with great power.

But he was the exception that proved why the exception is an exception. All his odd angles and agility to contort and hit from 'there' when he was standing 'here' - that has a cost. Bring a highly skilled orthodox fighter who can adjust to virtually anything and still attack, and this contortionism becomes a liability - because though he was agile and balanced enough to control his own body while doing his gymnastics, he could not prevent that from turning into what it really was - lack of proper balance - when he got hit.

His speed and strength made all that work for him time and again and he looked near invincible but against a speedy well-equipped boxer like MAB, Haseem's strong points become weaknesses.

Part of his problem in dealing with defeat was a religious matter. He had dedicated the fight to Moslems everywhere, and believed that Allah would honor him so that he could honor Allah.

It didn't turn out that way. So in a way even his religious devotion, another strength if you will, became a weakness, when Marcos made it so.

Too bad he didn't have a Manny to round him out way back when. He mighta been - sorry, just got to say it ... he mighta been a contender!

And having an Auburn avatar! Gotta love the SEC.

Naz was a different fighter, whether or not he was overrated is due to his opponents and how he faired vs them. You see a guy like Sam Soliman fight with that crackhead style but he hardly ever gets caught off balance and that being said guys like Kevin Kelly knocking him down multiple times really shows Hamed wasn't as good as he is billed.

He was flashy and arrogant and a pain in the ass. I think he's terribly overrated because he fought 1 dangerous fighter and he got his cocky ass whipped! (I love watching MAB slam his head into the turnbuckle)

    Hamed was Great.

But he has the potential to be GREATER. And not many if any fighters can say they had that type of potential. Thats what the frustrating thing about Hamed is.

And Manuel Medina who Naseem knocked out years ago is getting a title shot tonight and going ffor his 89th win on WNF.

bIG H you list all these fighters that Naseem beat but if you think about it he get's great credit for beating the likes of Tom 'Boom Boom' Johnson and wayne McCullough then on the other hand someone like scott Harrison beats them both and we get told there not that good, so yes I would say he was overratd because he get's more credit for beating these opponents than other boxers like Scott harrison have because they are not as camera freindly.

Moog are you Scott Harrison in disguise??

Dont even try and compare Harrison to Naz, Naz only defeat was against a guy who is in the top 5 p4p list now 5 years after he beat Naz, Harrison has bean beaton by old man Medina and Polo!!!!!!!!

Naz would of handed Harrison his arse if they ever met.
