Ya know, that's always been my main problem in sparring for me, too. I'm to scared to fight back because I'm afraid of pissing them off and them really beating the S*** out of me.

Thats why u always hit back harder

Overall, I settled into sparring and became addicted to it, I like it better at times than competition....

Sparring is the main thing needed for training as a fighter....If there is one thing you cant do without, its sparring!!!

that was so accurate...I am in a very rich area outside St. Louis and the kids here have had every thing handed to them on a silver spoon.....the bad boys here would friggin cry in the hood.....so after spending like 2-3 weeks teaching them how to fight I had them spar each other.....It was 2 crackheads fighting for the last rock.....LOL!!!! They were just flailing and finally someone landed a good shot....about a minute into the round.....It was exciting and scary at the same time because all I could think about were lawsuits.....then the YMCA in Chesterfield, MO kicked us out...after they said we could train there.....richy rich b*tches

    Garu,

Where are you around St. Louis??

Do you work with a Boxing Gym in that area??

I have a Boxing gym in SE. MO., as a matter of fact, we are the only "Active" Team in SE. MO.

Should take them boys to The WOHL Center...They train boxing there...Its also probably the most dangerous place to go in St. Louis and then getting scared would be the one experience they could get!! Haha, JK, I wouldnt do that....

Ok, if you are close to Chesterfield and you have guys that would like to train in Boxing, get a hold of Jimmie Howell there in St. Charles. He runs North County Boxing and he is a very good trainer. He trains amateur and pro fighters in his gym.

If you want to start your own Gym, you would need to get a hold of the officials there in St. Louis with the Ozark LBC.

We can always use more Gyms and the more Kids we can get involved in the sport, the better!!

    Good Luck,

    Coach

    ive sparred twice

1st time it was against a skinny lad 2 years younger than me, he's been boxing a few years and i though theres no way im letting him hit me, so i just moved around and jabbed him, and wen he did hit me i split his lip open.

anyways the trainer called time, minute seems like ages wen its ya 1st time!
and throws in another lad, yr older than me, and bigger

he jabs me right on the nose cheeky fucker but after a airly competitive round and cracked him on the nose which went crack

    never boxed since

    fact !
    I'm the real pretty boy

i sparred for the first time today, i was against kid 2 years older than me (im 14) and hes been boxing alot longer, i did ok wasnt really scared because trainer told him to go easy as it was my first time. Got some good punches in couple good body shots, but i need to work on my footwork so i was getting caught alot.
