    Styles. Fights.
Agree, but still quite remarkable that Hopkins picking his shots still has such a low rate of landed hits. It is like two hits in the air and one landed...Calzaghe lands like two out of three and still hits about four times as much as Hopkins. If you have a low output of punches and picks your punces then you rate of hits should also be higher than a fighter who has high output of punches.

Last night was an air hitting festival.
Joe fights different, a lot of those shots are just to keep the man at range or feel him out. Calzaghe is nearly always trying to land and a lot of the time he will throw a shot and have it blocked but still stand there and move up and down the body and land... the first shot my miss but it moves the guard so he can set his flurries up.

Hopkins moves in and out to keep the man away from him, score his points and make the other man work whilst not actually allowing him to be able to hit him.

Hopkins landed 259 punches on Tarver....it is like 25% of the punches Calzaghe landed on Lacy....

Totally landed shots in the fight 385. Calzaghe alone landed 1006 punches on Lacy and his rate of hits was about 70%
stop exagerrating calzaghe didn't even throw 1000 punches so how did he land 1000? and bernard and taver both threw more punches than PBF v Judah....and they're smaller...so these do not illustrate that hopkins and tarver are old....

Joe broke his hand and couldn't KO lacy with over 1000 punches. He wouldn't land 500 on B-HOP......the styles are 2 totally different...and when you have a counter puncher/counterpuncher fight it's a wonder they even had that high of totals....but I think B-Hop threw more than 417 punches....

You know, someone who doesn't want to give Hopkins any credit whatsoever would say that.

Why not look at the accuracy with which Hopkins placed his punches, and how much he made Tarver miss. It was a masterpiece of a performance and for anyone to downgrade that really needs to quit the Haterade.

He easily threw a thousand punches... His percentage or how times he landed must have been lose to a thousand ... though alot of them weren't clean.

anything higher than 35% is really good....when you're in the 40% and up you are killing your opponent....

Just illustrates two counter punchers. Calzaghe could land a zillion punches on Lacy, but that doesn't mean he would beat Hopkins or Tarver. He probably wouldn't.

If you still think Tarver would live with Calzaghe you are a fool, please tell how a slow no stamined guy like Tarver deals with the speed and movement of Calzaghe??

I honestly believe Cazlzaghe would go a similar number if not a better number on Tarver than Hopkins, i bet Joe is kicking himself now, thinking what could of been if he had got there first.

My thoughts exactly... Joe wanted to do this... now Tarver's stock has plummited... who's he going to fight now? Glen Johnson?... Are there any other big US fighters out there for him?

Thers isnt you know Adam, Joe has had even more bad look, but i feel RJJ could be made if he is impressive in his next fight, i know it wont mean a great deal after RJJ last few performances, but what other options is there??

Winky/Taylor winner or kessler are the only other worthwhile fighters out there.

Now that Woods is fighting GJ (and I don't think it proves much for JC any way) he's gonna have to settle for Kessler now... I don't want JC going near RJJ at all... I like Roy to much :P

Winky couldn't move up (I don't think) and JC couldn't move down and I don't think Taylor would fight JC...

I'd love to see him destroy Kessler... we could even unban Royal... :P
