Everyone has opinions... too say there was a conspiracy with a such a close fight is the opinion of somebody who is off their rocker.

but... Chuck Giampa scored the Mosely and Hernandez fights for Wright, Melvina Lathan scored the Solimon fight for Wright and the other guy gave him this fight so its not like they don't like his style.
those are less close fights thoughAnd Winky dominated th action better because of the styles he fought

Right. I lost a lot of respect for Winky after he declined the rematch and started making excuses and acting like he was robbed?Originally Posted by tuckwopat
I was there at the FedEx Forum and didn't hear any of the commentary until I saw the replay this morning. I still thought that it could go either way. There was definitely a lot of crowd bias, but what does that have to do with the judges' decisions? It's not like they had anything to gain by faulting the scorecards.
Also, a lot of people are using different internet polls to somehow prove that Winky won? BS. Winky's fan base is incredibly massive in comparison to Jermain's. Of course they're going to favor Wink. The only people that really seem to like Jermain are his hometown fans.
Although I went in rooting for JT, I couldn't bring myself to boo Winky. He's one of my favorite fighters, and has been for a couple of years now. He's an obvious legend, but I think he's starting to fade away. Look at his last fight with Soliman. As sad as it may be, it was quite obvious then that Winky should soon start thinking about another direction in his career.
um.. Winky looked good against Soliman. Soliman threw over 1000 punches and landed an average of single digits every round? thats a defensive masterpiece. Also Winky had the flu, so off on the Soliman fight![]()
I'm not arguing your point starr. Winky DID look good against Soliman. But then again, Soliman looked pathetic at the same time. How could Wink not have looked good against Soliman?
Anyway that doesn't matter. Didn't mean to take the thread off topic.
Judges know who they are working for. This decision wasn't as bad as Holyfield Lewis 1, but it was still dodgy. Promoters and cable networks have their favorite judges. Sanctioning bodies are notoriously corruptible. Boxing is a big business due to gambling and television and it's the easiest sport to influence results in as its a two-horse race. This adds up to an environment where things WILL go wrong.
The sport has always had problems with this and will continue to. Even though organized crime gambling interests chave less influence in boxing these days, the advent of cable TV has increased the stakes and added another level of influence and potential foul play.
When it's anything like close enough to get away with it, it's quite common for the house fighter to win. This can either be through pressure from promotors/TV networks,
deliberate foulplay by judges or just wishful thinking on their part.
That being said, I don't blame Taylor for the result. He was there to fight.

If you could please illustrate how those judges came together so quickly. I mean first, they would have to do their own cards, then they would have to get with other judges to make sure that their cards match up. (If they don't I gues they correct them). And what if the number don't allign where they've been keeping score throughout the fight? Do they just erase the bad numbers? And if they do it before hand, then I guess they would have to pay off a fighter to make sure the fight goes that way.Originally Posted by shooter
This is all within a few minutes of the fight ending and the judgement being announced. Pretty good speed cheating for three old men.
The judges know who pays their hotel bills and gets them more gigs. It's the sanctioning associations who are in cahoots with pay tv operators and promoters. Boxing judging at this level is a junket. At the very least there is a subconcious motivation to serve your master. I think that this, coupled with a pro-Taylor crowd and an inability of the old men to distinguish between scoring and non-scoring punches, was most likely the case in this fight. At worst, there is direct interference.
In competitive fights, anything close to a tie pays the dealer. Taylor's HBO's middleweight franchise, HBO is the dealer.
Check out the book on Don King: 'Only in America'. It breaks down how these influences come into play and what a dirty game boxing really is.
As I'm pretty sure boxing is corrupt, but that doesn't explain how that would have put together a perfet skeem like the Taylor/Wright fight. Just because some people suck doesn't mean everybody does. I mean do you really believe that those judges cheated for two seconds?Originally Posted by shooter
The judges opinions seem like a pretty good cross section of what you are seeing here. Some peole think Wink won, some people think Taylor won, some agree with the draw. I wonder how the corruption sways our opinions?
