    Well it is dramatic.

But it over empathises technique and fighting spirit, they believe guts can conquer skill. Which does happen, but rarely. It is no common thing, and it comes hard damn it!

The fights where the people dont have techniques are the most intrigueing. It is fairly logical. But when they use their "skills" they are most often in another world.

Ryo Mashiba is a feather weight and he is probably 5'10" to six feet tall. Thats a hell of alot of height on a feather weight if I am not mistaken!

The techniques for the most part that they perform on their behalf is done in a over-dramatic fashion. The flicker jab is seen as a ton of "lights" floating between your head and body, as you are left confused by the whipping motions that are takeing place.

There is a fighter called Ryuhi in the series that can punch you twenty six times, in the period it takes a fighter to go from falling*the last punch he used to knock his opponent down * to hitting the mat.

The fighters have weakness's in the show. But they are over shadowed by their incredible strenghts for the most part. They have a bad time of showing how rough training gets when you give your charachters "super powers".

If I can find it and you want me to I will send you that episode via computer with Mashiba so you can take a look see.

My opinion might be biased on if this is a good show though. I like anime, ecspecially those that have to do with martial arts.

That is what they "say" they base the flicker jab on In Ippo. It is based off Hearns then blown way out of proportion.

Check out their version of the Dempsey Roll, or Peek'a' boo style boxing. Ryuhais shotgun/pistol punch.

technically the flicker jab is a real punch, and a hard one to block against, being that it is a quick jab thrown below the eye level so it may come from your opponents blind spot, but very difficult to use, since it is hard to throw a quick bunch in a stance such as the "Hitman" style. So the legend of the strike can or cant be true, depending on who throws the punch.

Think of it this way, u hav ur hnds up u still gt boxed in the head body etc. when u hav a hand down low u hav to watch two different hands ratha thn two aligned elbows. If u thnk it is too risky thn dnt do it. ppl hav their own style and thts y they bcome champs. plus u can move ur high glove to both sides of ya face, or dodge. i hav one hand lower than the otha, my lead left. i find it easier 2 dodge and slip punches. or a cheeky duck and punch 2 da side and thn to the top. If ya dnt attack then ya dnt win, also lower hand means they r naturally gona go for the open side!

Many- I would venture to say most- of boxing's great defensive fighters fought with a low left hand and in terms of "proper" technical boxing using the shoulder to defend against the right hand is the superior technique as it provides better counter-punchingopportunities and it leaves both hands free to counter. Also there is less damage done tan there is when putting one's left glove against one's head and blocking the right. The idea is to avoid or to deflect as much impact as is possible.
If you watch tpe of Charley Burley, Archie Moore, Walcott, Charles, even James Toney they jab from the hip and it is anything but a light flicking punch. Eddie Futch was discussing the great Holman Williams in an interview and made reference to his rising jab, which hedescribed as a sort of "back handed uppercut." Tape of the fighters that utilized this punch will show that while the left was low they carried their chins well behind the left houlder, fought out of a semi-crouch and had their left hip and shoulder so far forward- towards their opponent- as to be almost sideways.
This makes one very hard to hit with right hands, and makes an opponent walk around and into your right hand if he tries to land his hook. The 'rising jab' comes into play as the opponent jabs; either slip or parry so that his jab goes over your left shoulder, stepping in with the left foot by slightly pushing off the right. The left glove, the left arm straight, comes straight u7p from the hip, timed to meet the foe's cin as he steps in behind the jab you made him miss. This is a very jolting blow, and over time causes considerable damage.
I would also argue that , if done in the manner described above it makes one less vulnerable to right hands, due to the stance and the crouch. In fact it lends itself to drawing and countering the right with a return right to head or body.

fighting with your left hand low has its ups and downs. 1 of the good things is that it confuses an opponent. this is because when your standing in a "proper" stance your not in a fighting position, your in a blocking position.
