lol wacko. funny guy.
i never once said that wanderlei will ko a boxer in a boxing match but he can ko them with a punch. he has the power.
SECRETLY YOU ALL KNOW MMA IS MORE EXCITING, IT GETS UR BLOOD BOILING, BUT YOU CANT ADMIT IT COS IT WILL DOWN BOXING!
so your stating crocop has no skill or defence, hmmm, now your taking the piss
Well if you say there is no skill in pride fc, if you put in a boxer with a mma striker, all in strikes, no grappling, the boxer will win right? cos the pride fc fighter will wade in throwing punch and kick after the other, and then the boxer will throw a jab and ko the no holds barred warrior? NOT RRRREALLY. the boxer will be made to look stupid...lmao! even if hasim rahman trades with silva or any other heavy, they will still get ktfo...its true!

Hilarious show. I for one loved it.
Comparing boxing and striking is like comparing throwing a football and throwing a baseball. Same basic concept but totally different. Why is this such a hard concept to grasp. To answer Lyle's topic question here is why I enjoy watching MMA events.
1. I like the variety of skill sets involved. I will agree that it is more difficult to become a great boxer than mma fighter, but I like how the fighters must train in a variety of disciplines and then see how it plays out in the ring. Most of these guys were world class competitors in one thing or another (kickboxing, muaythai, wrestling, judo, BJJ) before they came to MMA
2. I train in submission grappling, so where lyle sees two men grunting and rolling I see a sweet science and appreciate the difficulty in it.
3. I think that MMA org put on better cards. A mma ppv is cheaper and you see more fights, and better fights. Obviously Pride and UFC don't pit their fighters against one another but if there is a big fight to be made in one company or the other it happens. No haggling over paychecks or alphabets. I remeber when an HBO ppv would have 3-5 fights and you were interested in at least 2-3. That never happens anymore. Rarely do you even get to see more than one fight.
4. Lastly where wacko and lyle see sloppy amaturism, I see some of the top athletes in the world using technical skills to savagely beat the crap out each other. You rarely see an out of shape or lackluster perfromance from MMA fighters. It doesn't matter if it is a championship fight or some no body these guys usually fight like their lives depend on it.

To those saying MMA isnt their cup of tea, fair enough..thts all good. But to try and hint those guys who fight for organisations such as Pride FC are sloppy and bla bla is utter crap. These guys pack in 8hrs a day 6days a week and prob train just as hard as boxers, its a living for them, its an art, a science, just like boxing is. When i first started watching boxing i was like WTF?!?! Once i began to understand the technicalities of it i began to appreciate it more and enjoy it more. To say two guys rolling around on the floor trying to submit each other is wack etc is equivalent of a noob watching boxing and saying two guys who cant simply KO each other..Grappling is a science also and once u understand the technicalities its a lot more interesting to watch.
To those saying kicking etc is girly, im sure the many ppl who train in such a sport and understand the science of it will be quick to disprove such ignorant comments.
With regards to striking in MMA, you cant have the stance of a boxer and keep ur hands up high for fear of takedowns and inability to defend low leg kicks...simple as that, its not the same as boxing...but u cant knock some of them guys boxing, and its great to see MMA fighters going to train with Pro Boxers in order to sharpen up their striking skills and we should respect that.
I think many ppl are only familiar with UFC and its stoopid redkneck fan base and paint the entire sport of MMA with the same brush. Look into organisations such as Pride FC where the fans also understand and respect the technicalities of the sport creating that enjoyable atmosphere.
So basically, If you dont like MMA fair enough, but to go knock these fighters who train hard and are amazing to watch is silly, im sure most of u lot who love boxing would sit back and think WTF if some ignorant person came here saying boxing is just two guys who just swing and cant even KO each other easilyand bla bla bla and it isnt to their liking so F boxing and F its supporters.
"kicking is for girls"?
how about you punch me wherever you'd like as hard as you can
and then when i get up i kick you as hard as i can and see if you even get up
basically, why people such as myself like MMA is because it is more real
boxing isn't real, it never will be in a real life situation fight
but hell no, i'm not disrespecting boxing, just stating the facts
Lightning Strikes Twice
i dont really think its better than boxing or boxing better than MMA but if you like seing variety in fighting styles clash then MMa is good for you. you know, liking MMA doesnt mean you have to dislike boxing or vice versa, you can be a fan of both.![]()
One thing is for sure, in each other's elements a boxer could beat an MMA'er and an MMA'er could beat a boxer.
cc.......agree w/ u on that.Originally Posted by Majesty

As far as MMA goes, I fell in love with it before I did boxing so it'd be harder for me to draw the same conclusion many here do. But despite finding it first, it doesn't quite compare to boxing for me personally. Maybe because the sport of boxing is more artistic, the amount of money on the line, all the history that comes with the sport. Whatever it is, thats just my opinion and Lyle thats the key word here, opinion. If you think leg kicking is silly, thats you're bad for being apathetic to what a leg kick can really do. I just ordered a Pride FC ppv this weekend, and the main event entailed Mirko Crocop knocking out Hideko Yoshida with a kick to his leg, forcing him to be carried out of the ring as he couldn't walk after receiving just a few of those strikes. Don't be consciously apathetic torward something, then post about it as if you know whats up. I'm like anyone else, I don't care to see ground fighting (except Fedor's ground and pound). But if you devoted just a little bit of time to actually do it yourself, you'd think a little different.
I believe Wacko when he says that yes I've seen MMA, and it's not my cup of tea. No big deal, just an opinion and unlike some people (poor Lyle) he didn't make up his mind before seeing the big picture.
Put a boxer in MMA they'll get tapped out
Put a MMAist in a boxing ring they'll get Kayod.
Its pretty simple.
