    To play Devil's Advocate...

He is the best fighter we have ever seen IMO. He has one of the finest trainer's and training facilities at his disposal. He has +some of the best nutritional advice available in the sport. He has too much going for him in the 21st century to lose to a 1940's Robinson or 1980's Leonard...

But that all said, IMO there is a big difference between being the best and being the Greatest. And as Greatness lists go, Lil Floyd is no Robinson or Leonard.

Sorry but Floyd has always propped his predecessors...doubt he'd stop now.

He said that he wanted to leave a great legacy behind him & once he said some thing to SRL in passing...but I think that it was more of a joke between the two...could be wrong though.

Far be it from me to disagree with the great Britkid but I'm fairly confident Duran, Hearns and Leonard would have busted him up.

He hasn't done enough to prove himself worthy of being considered on their level yet.

Leonard would have made a fool out of Gatti and Coralles too, and no way in hell Duran or Hearns are losing to the likes of Coralles, Gatti, Castillo and Judah.

Oh and big fat George coming back in the 90's to win a heavyweight title at 45 and 10 years out of the game proves that the earlier era's packed more of a punch.

The likes of Robinson would have dominated in any era.

Even if he did say it I wouldn't really care. Its not as if Floyd is alone among boxers with monstrous egos, Jones, Toney, Morales, just to name a few think VERY highly of themselves. Some of it comes with boxing, a fighters got to have confidence.

Possibly Probably a Ray Robinson would of dominated this and every other era (at welterweight), but he would of needed today's superior training, tactics and nutritional information to supplement his talent, IMO.

My argument is that advantages in boxing's evolution would give Lil Floyd the edge over even a Robinson, if Robinson were not to have these advantages as well.

If i could have a dream fight for Floyd it would be as follows:

    Against Kostya Tszyu in Sydney.

Billed as Tszyu's final fight ever.

I reckon he would train like a beast for it - its not like he never fought fast boxers is it? he fought many faster fighters but nailed them eventually. Incredible timing.

With all his aussie fans behind him too...sensational !

Yeah but with that logic then Jack Dempsey would be the undisputed heabyweight champion right now with those horseshoe powered gloves of his

Floyd needs to stop talking about how is legacy is going to be and get in the ring to show what his legacy is going to be!

I dont doubt Floyd is a cut above, but that doesnt earn you greatness, you only have to look at Roy JJ. He needs to beat the elite fighters around him. The fights are there for him, he has the opportunity to leave a very fine legacy. I think it all depends on just how much it means to him. Would he fight Winky Wright for peanuts if it guaranteed his legacy?
On a tangent, how do you think Oscar will be remembered (assuming he retired now)? Up there with the Big Dogs?

hatton, flloyd and cotto all need to fight one another, if any one of them comes out of it by beating the other two, it is they would can claim to be the gr8est. . . . and it would be a good claim

Welcome to Saddo's, South London [click], nice opening post (or two).

Excellent point, like I tried make clear, although I think 'Lil' Floyd is the best boxing has seen, he is like South London suggests, far from the best.

And to give my opinion on your question South London; I have Oscar #22 in my all-time list.
