Simply put, RJJ is NOT the same fighter anymore. The guy honestly is scared of being knocked out again, and that means that he won't throw his punches. He can still punch and he still has the quickness to beat anybody but he just doesn't have to heart to go toe to toe with someone anymore. Come on, after the Prince gassed out in the first, RJJ should have blasted this guy out of the ballpark, but he was content with dancing and potshotting Badi because he just doesn't wanna take the chance of getting caught. JoeCal will catch him, I don't think it will be a KO, but RJJ will run and hug to whole night.

Just because I don't want to see one of my all time favorites counting bulbs again, doesn't make me a quitter...when it's time it's time.

Roy has done his share of shocking the world...I'd rather it not be another shocking loss.

No one's calling him a scrub...a scrub is what beat him...Glen Johnson...so what does that say about Roy? He's becoming scrubbable.

Heres another little thing to be factored in Jones was knocked unconcious by two guys that are not in Calzaghes league.

Calzaghe would of been a tough fight for Jones at his best let alone now he is way way done.

Crawl before you walk into the lion's den Roy.
So Joe dominating Lacy means he could beat Roy Jones?
Seriously you Roy quitters are unbeliavable...Youll kiss Lenox Lewis's a** but he got knocked out cold by a scub Rahman and a mediocre at best Mccall but you all proclaim him as the man and saying how great he was when he retired, But Roy gets up and dust himself off from adversity and he is a scrub and you are not giving him a chance against a guy that has little KO power and had to move up in weight to face Jones(Calzaghe)Please you will all eat your words ..GURANFUKENTEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and you will all be kissing his a** again...Stay loyal to your fighters...Dont be a follower pick a fighter and see it thru....
Lewis beat those that beat him....That is why Lewis is a true Champ.....RJJ has lost consistently in rematches against Tarver..and we know how good Tarver is...so yes RJJ is done...let him go....he was great.....by the way Lewis never lost 3 fights in a row.....or 2 for that matter.....
Thanks for SC by the way...I wont cheapshot you back...Roy is done huhWow well his hands looked as fast as ever, I dont want to here about Prince's credentials cause that has no bearing on how fast Roy throws his punches..Roy got hit a few times flush and didnt blink Roy often went to the ropes daring this guy to tee off on him.. Roy looked fresh and relaxed between rounds(weak comp) but he was active the whole fight and was fresh after 12 rounds...Again it is not conceveable to think Roy who is as physically gifted as anyone has ever been cant adjust...I mentioned Lewis from the point of him getting Bruttaly Ko'd 2x and having much more wear and tear than Jones but he thrived and so will Jones he will do fine against Calzaghe Joe has to move up in weight and is not a one punch KO guy and moving up in weight will diminish it further...Plus you all assume Joe will be effective at 175 will be able to punch effectively and take a punch....

Alot of interesting Dynamics to this matchup if it go's down but you would be sadly mistaken if you think Calzaghe will walk thru Jones...A 60% Jones is still better than most fighters....Ease up on the guy thats all I'm saying

All I am saying Wacks is that What are you gonna say if he beats Calzaghe convincingly? Will you guys change your tune or will you say its cause Joe Moved up To Lightheavyweight Who does Roy have to beat NOW to gain redemption and be considered a player in your eyes?

If Roy makes a triumphant comeback against top flight opponents does he then become the greatest of all time

Personally, I feel at any moment in Bernard Hopkins' career Joe would of had his number. Mentally they're both great fighters, but I don't think Nard had enough physical gifts to keep up with Joe for a good solid 12. Jones is completely different. Yes right now Calzaghe would definately tag him on the chin and it'd be lights out, I just can't vision Roy not being tagged at some point during the fight. 5 years ago I'd pick Calzaghe to lose a UD or get stopped late, but this is now. I'd much rather RJJ go on to fighting Hopkins, he has a chance of actually not getting hit in that fight since Bernard isn't nearly as aggressive as Joe, and doesn't have the handspeed that would surely allow him to find RJJ's chin. Not saying Bernard couldn't do it, I just don't think he's better equipped to handle Roy.

Of course this is all being said in terms of "Ok if he has to fight somebody it should be..."
Hopefully the man will smarten up and retire

I dont mean to be harsh about it, but Bandwagon jumping is a huge pet peeve of mine and definetly strikes a nerve the latest example is Ricky Hatton, most had proclaimed him as a world beater now after the Collazo fight you can start to see the trend of some people(who were posting he was superman) starting to change tide on him..I dont direct this or the last post to anyone in particular if it applies to you it does if not well hey hope you are amused at my indignation LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Well said, CC

At this point in time Calzaghe has Jones number....6 years ago it would have been the other way round...

Calzaghe would stop Jones Jr now...

Roy should fight Joe Calz. would be a great money fight for both, and should be a fun competitive fight

Dont worry, its our secret and anybody else who reads this threads secret! No need for fretting!

The thing that bugs me out of all this are those who think Jones is "back again". He beat Prince Badi, someone who nobody had heard of prior to this fight. It was clever match making. Calzaghe would rip Jones to shreds....He is way to busy for Jones to deal with at this stage....

I love Jones Jr...but anybody who thinks he is gonna step up again and be a success, well, they are gravely mistaken....his time has been and gone...

Then I would applaude him for winning. I'd be shocked...but I'd applaude him.

The thing is...your'e lumping me into a category that I don't like. "Will you guys change your tune"

What tune is it that you think I'm blowin? I'm a Jones fan. I love the guy...I just want him to retire. I think that his best years are far behind him.

No. Hell no...he doesn't become the greatest of all time...he's already a great...just like Hopkins is...but Hopkins, even though he beat Tarver, is not the greatest of all time.

Bandwagon jumping is not a part of my game.

I'm still backing all of my fighters that have lost or struggled...Sturm, Wright, Cotto, Hopkins, Oscar, & so on & so on...but Jones is a different story with me.

Anyone (himself included) that thinks all is well & good after the beatings he took...I question your/his judgement.

I was never a backer of Hatton either...so I aint in there either.

Thing is...people are too quick to jump & piss & moan about someone bailing on a fighter when they are only looking at both sides of the coin...that's just silly, IWO.

If you can't see that bad in your fighter your'e either blind...or your'e a Mayorga fan.

Wacks, I'm not takin a shot at you bud,I should of generalized it a little more... My I wanted to make is to give Jones no shot against Calzaghe is absurd!!!!! Calzaghe is GREAT I'm not disputing that , but to think that he would have to move up 7lbs I would half to imagine would diminish his handspeed and might have a bearing on his work rate he is 34 I believe and no spring chicken either he has his aches and pains as well and to me thats the X factor through this

    1) how much pop will he have at 175?
    2) how well can he take a punch at 175?
    3) can he maintain his furious pace at 175?
    4) how will his stamina be at 175?
    5) how will his hands hold up at that weight hitting a heavier person he is going to have to swing a little bit harder at 175 to do damage than he would at 168 I mean who knows?

I like breaking it down I'm no expert but I think these are valid points and I like Roy's chances in this one
