Carlos Baldomir is a true warrior, who has earned his spot undisputedly... The trouble is he doesn't have enough talent to even give FLoyd trouble imo... Let's examine the two upsets of the year that Carlos has already gotten... Anyone should have been able to see that Zab Judah was handling him early, he was way too fast and Carlos couldn't even catch him, but then he did, just once... If anyone thinks one average right hand is going to make Floyd pull a chicken dance, stop fighting altogether and run for 5 rounds, I just don't think it's realistic... I also don't think it's fair to call his win over Gatti, "upset of the year"... I mean come on... Sure Gatti is a fan favourite(and I do admit I thought he could win the fight boxing, which I still think he had a shot to do if he had listened to his corner and tried to box earlier..) But besides that, Gatti had never, EVER, beat a half decent welterweight... He had lost to many average fighters before, and in all honesty I think there are about 20+ active welterweights who could have beaten, even KOed Gatti on that night instead of Baldomir.. He just isn't an elite fighter as much as people love him.. I think people only picked Gatti to win because they thought Baldomir's win over Judah was a fluke... When the fact is just about anyone who could beat Zab Judah over 12 rounds, would beat Gatti...

IMO it is possible.....I personally didn't consider the Gatti win that much of an upset

Baldomir has a lot of power in those straight shots he threw, ask Gatti

If you check my posts prior to the fight I said that Baldomir would destroy Gatti.

To me it was the least suprising result of 2006. Gatti has been done for years.

I really didn't think Gatti had that much of a chance...IMO 147 is too big for him...I was rooting for him though...Always been a big fan of his..Guy has too much heart not to like him....Truth is even if he did win he wouldn't have held the title for long anyway

    IF

Baldomir pulls off the upset do you think this one is a bigger upset then Tyson-Douglas? Explain your answer.

Baldomir is a C+ to B- fighter IMO I'm not taking anything away from his recent accompolishments, I say these things cause any fighter with a chin, heart, pop in his punch could beat Judah...

We all know Judah's focus issues, Almost reminds me of Mike Tyson on a smaller scale, He has NO ability to adapt if the game plan dosent get executed 100000% Judah myswell walk out of the ring if S*** isin't going right for him...

Arturo Gatti is a complete freak of nature....But its like you said he is B class himself....Arturo has shown the same characteristics as Judah his career but it's not as apparent cause Gatti's heart and Power are a great equalizer...If Gatti's plan isin't coming to fruition he simply throws caution to the Wind and just go's to war reverting to the Blood and Guts warrior....Which as a fan is entertaining like a real life Rocy movie but not smart and against a Guy like Baldo he just got flatened..

Now as I dug deep to contemplate Baldo, it got me taking a closer look at Floyd and what I realized is he is on the verge of quite possibly being one of the best ever and here is why...

Floyd is a super-genius in the ring I say at 28 he is probably already top 5 in the ring smarts category,I also thought about all his comparisons to Roy Jones and my conclusion is Floyd is better on paper(here me out) Roy ALWAYS relied on his athleticism in the ring 1st, he isint exactly a blueprint of technical excellence and fundamentals, Roys athleticism was his great equalizer and was ALWAYS a notch above the rest until recently..

Floyd on the other hand is just about as athletic and pyhsically gifted as Roy, difference being that Floyd relies on his Technical skills and Fundamentals 1ST, he is a Boxing machine and an absolute polished diamond technically, fundamentally and defenseivly and he supplements this with his astounding athleticism(he's like the perfect boxing predator lol!!) Floyd is also the master at adaption he never loses focus and adjust better than just about anyone....

I think Baldo's run as nice as its been, is just about over I wouldnt give him anything else but a punchers chance and that is slim as well seeing Floyd defense has been top 3 in the last 7 yrs only rivaled by B-Hop and Winky.....

I say Floyd beats him not as severe as he beat Gatti but I think it will be messy Floyd TKO late or Landslide desicion...
Good points & waaaaaaaaaaaay too much for me to hit on at this drunken moment...but & I shall nail this in the morning.

NO not at all....For one Baldo has been on a roll..It won't be the first upset and the guy hasn't lost in who knows how long...He is also bigger than Mayweather...Even as good as Floyd is size will eventualy be a factor maybe here maybe not but you know the old expression...A good Big man Will beat a good little man...Not to imply Baldo has more skills than Floyd but just as an example...Will it be an upset yes but not to monumentous proportions....Floyd has been in with some weak comp and it has been a while since he has fought a guy who can take the punches of Carlos...IMO speed is still the real factor in this fight....
Tyson is/was a heavyweight...He destroyed everyfighter in his path....Up until douglas he was never really hurt much...Douglas was not really world class comp ( as the case with many of Tysons victims)...There was never anyreason to think Douglas was a threat to at anypoint...He didn't have an upset on his resume nor did he have a long undefeated streak.....

Agreed...but I still see Floyd winning...just a reall tuff fight.

Baldo will not outbox Floyd...but his sheer physical size difference...that you can gotdam well believe will be applied is going to be a factor.

Absolutely. Tyson was all power, Floyd is all skill & what all boxers aspire to be...whether they want to admit it or not...Floyd is the greatest tactician of the past decade...ask James Toney...he even gives Floyd props...& I mean...everyone loves JFAT...right.

As much as I don't think Baldy has a chance of beating Floyd, even if he does it would not be anywhere near the upset that Douglas beating Tyson was.

Before the Tyson Douglas fight, there wasn't even a discussion about Douglas winning, a Tyson win was just taken for granted, as much as the sun rising in the morning.

Baldomir has been causing plenty of waves this year, everybody knows who he is now, and some people evidently are even tipping Baldy to win.

    He won't though :P
