No disrespect...but compared to whom? Honestly...heart just doesn't cut it for me. There are plenty gentleman fighters out there...but they gotta be winners too. I know that Gatti's held a title or two...but no noteworthy wins & when he got beaten...he got beaten down.

Admittedly...I aint a fan of Gatti...but his losses are what makes him "the human highlight reel".

HBO sure do have some cute analogies don't they?

Boxing is about ability and results.....Heart is an additional part.....Gatti never won the "BIG ONE"...for the record I love Gatti as a fighter.....but I also love "BOOM BOOM" Mancini as well....
It feels good to be back home.

I don't think Gatti quite earned being in the HOF, however he will always be remembered. Gatti-Ward 1-3 were all the stuff of legend, but if just had defense, man with that heart he would have been all that and more.

For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

The IBHOF has IMO been extra nice in some inductees, I think Gatti wont get in but who knows Barry McGuigan is in there already

I hear you Daxx, but if the criteria is strictly on quality across the board there is no way in for gatti.

Maybe the Boxing hall of Fame needs to introduce a second tier so they can allow guys like gatti the credit they deserve. The guy still won titles after all.
A second tier for fighters who gave a lot to the game but didn't reach the giddy heights of the truly GREAT fighters.
Leaving the top tier to the chosen few who show surpassing excellence.

If all you have to do is be exciting to get into the Hall of Fame then we may as well throw Margarito in now

yes but holyfield was argueably the greatest cruiserweight of all time and he beat mike tyson beat riddick bowe and beat douglas who had just beaten tyson and was hw champion like 4 times wasnt he ??

youre right about the cruiserweight holyfield

but he beat a waay washed up tyson (think ali vs berbick)

one out of 3 vs. bowe (a far superior hw)

    was 1-1-1 against john ruiz

    was 1-1 against michael moorer

    lost to chris byrd

however, if he does go on to win a hw championship again, (he won't) then he absolutely deserves to be in the hof

tell me if this is hall of fame material...............  http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=499

the only reason he was hw champ 4 times is because he wasnt successful defending his belt

beat washed up tyson ?? hold on wasnt tyson the one beating everyone in 3 rounds or less and was hw champ at that time and was young yet holyfield lost to bowe and looked shot in that fight and holy was like 40-1 on betting odds or something silly like that so i wouldnt call that a washed up tyson he did excellent against bowe the man was 2 stone heavier 1-1-1 against ruiz is when holy was about 40 and finished same with byrd he lost to moorer but i thought he had problem with hes heart in 1 st fight and pulled shoudler during fight in rematch he beat moorer in 8 rounds

That's not what it was like back in the day...not from what I remember.
    Wacko, spot on!

Sorry Frozensolid i gotta disagree with ya.....Holyfield is 110% a HOF fighter, no doubt about it.

WACKO?!? its not the "hall of winning superfights" ...its purely that excitement to fans and heart and list of names on his record you speak of that will ENSURE that hes in the hall of fame ...

but to answer you directly ..ofcourse he does ....he is one of the most popular and "FAMEous' fighters today and has a huge following ....what would keep him out of the hall of fame?? hes EXTREMELY famous and a very exciting fighter

"Is Gatti a worthy candidate for the Hall of Fame?" <--is really a silly question

I know where your coming from, but I actually agree with Wacko... What would keep Gatti out of the hall of fame? well.. The fact that he couldn't have dreamed of beating anyone who he'll be sharing the spot with, imo.
