Joe C vs Lacy: I think Calzaghe is a great fighter, and it was an amazing performance... I also think Lacy was nowhere near as good as anyone thought, Calzaghe took no damage in the fight, and could have easily used it to catapult him into another superfight, imo. I know, there aren't alot of names or anything like that, but still it's just been way too long since the win, I was really dissapointed when I heard Bika was his next opponent.
Tarver vs Roy Jones: Of course Tarver did try and follow it up by facing another great fighter, and he got his ass whipped because he never came back down to planet earth after KOing Roy, imo. Same with the Glen Johnson fights really, although he wasn't embaressed and won both imo, that was Tarvers chance to follow up and impress people, and I doubt he trained as hard as he did for Jones.
James toney vs holyfield: Toney could have, and probably still could, land just about anyone at HW to fight, he obviously never even tried to come in the same shape ever again at HW. Ruiz he looked better for but still way too heavy and he was juicing for that fight. Peter as well, he deserves credit for taking the fight, Ruiz and Peter aren't bums, but it's Toney's shape and training habits that make me pick him.
Ricky Hatton vs Tszyu: This one's debatable for sure, because he caught a really tough break with Collazo, he was a HELL of alot better than anyone figured I think, and he didn't get any props for taking the fight... But him fighting Maussa and now Urango isn't exactly heading in the right direction as far as Im concerned.. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong and end up fighting JLC.
Floyd Mayweather to some degree has been living off of every win recently, Gatti and Judah at least.. Id like to see him fight more often and Im not one of the people who feel Baldomir will be a really hard fight for him. Would have rather seen him fight Margarito, honestly, but this isn't really a strong case because Baldomir IS the undisputed welter champ...
Margarito vs Cintron: I know, hilarious huh... But nonetheless, apparently after that virtuoso performance over a p4p great, Margarito just doesn't need to fight anyone at all anymore, not until Floyd gives him a shot. Funny it's been over a year and a half in between fights for him, considering Gomez wasn't even a fight. And I hate how people think he's so feared, he's had plenty of name fighters who wanted him.
