The problem with Joe is that he doesn't like to be told what to do.
If you point out the obvious to him, he'll go & do something else entirely.

Yeah, certainly last night that was the case. His dad was going mental at him in the corner, but then again....who really listens to their dad that often. When my dad used to go mad at me, I'd switch off and stand there waiting for him to calm down. He just wanted a tear-up in there, and he got it in spades.Originally Posted by Syntax Error

"Everything I've told ou so far, you've just gone and done exactly the opposite, you have to box this guy".

People say Calzaghe rises to the occasion and thus his disappointing fight against Bika.....
...but Kessler rose to the occasion himself last night and flattened Beyer in 3.
My point is, don't nobody consider the shape Kessler would be in if he came to face Calzaghe?? he would be explosive - and at 27 is not even peaking - perhaps in 2007 he will be peaking whilst Joe begins decline.......... !
Calzaghe has never been one to impress by fighting GREAT opponents but then again this is a sign of his era...Benn, Eubank, Watson, McClellan, Roy Jones, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Svenn Ottke, Daruisz Michalzweski, and so on never really hunkered down and fought any and all comers
Otke dude??
since when his name should be even written with the others!

The fight for Joe C. money wise is with Hopkins or Jones. Kessler looked very impressive the other night however Beyer was a sitting duck, no head movement at all , the guy was made to order for any puncher. Kessler is High risk little reward. Kessler needs more exposure to build up the dollars. He looks to be a strong fighter. anyway that my thoughts !![]()
I agree with some of what you said Lords.
I don't agree with some of the other parts of what you said...so I think we might can spark up some thoughts on the matter...here goes...
Agreed. Money fights...in a big way! I honestly believe that Joe would eat Jones up...I go back & forth on how he'd do with Hopkins. Hopkins nullify's a lot of people's abilities with his jab & his defense.Originally Posted by Lords Gym
Not to be a smart ass...but Kessler's looked that good in pretty much every fight. Beyer was a dead duck the moment the ink dried. Again, not being a smart ass...but a lot of people have seen too little of Kessler to pass a clear judgement.Originally Posted by Lords Gym
Being a fan of Kessler doesn't equate to me being an expert on Kessler...but I can honestly say that I don't think there is anyone at 160-175lbs that could beat him outside of Calzaghe or Wright. Joe would have to be on point/focused & Wright would have to be able to handle the extra 8lbs.
Wright's defense would give Kess hell.
Totally disagree. Even me being a Yank...I can see the value here. First of all...unification...second...Calzaghe vs Kessler would generate a full fwockin stadium or two in Whales, Manchester, or some Danish joint!Originally Posted by Lords Gym
Again...kinda disagree...I still think Kess is already a cash machine & he's a superstar in his own country. Also...with a bit more publicity over this weekends 3rd round blast out of Beyer...you never know.Originally Posted by Lords Gym
Man...I wish HBO woulda plugged that after the Calzaghe fight...woulda done wonders for Kess.
Good thoughts.Originally Posted by Lords Gym

back Wacko . . America is where the dollars are in boxing. HBO PPV , its just the way it is. If you want to make the big bucks you need exposure in America. not saying that a Kessler - Calzaghe fight would not generate good money right now overseas , but it would not generate anywhere near the dollars that the MGM Grand Casino HBO PPV / SKY Calzaghe -vs- Roy Jones Jr, or Bernard Hopkins will generate. I think after Kessler has a few fights available for American public viewing. Kessler would bring about intrest in the American public and the $$$ would follow , He is obviously a very very good fighter Kessler looks very dangerous to me , he is tall and lean, a str8 puncher, as it stands right now , Kessler is a very high risk with the fraction of revenue potential of the other fighters mentioned above ! Just my observation

Agreed. Good post.Originally Posted by Lords Gym

Get some fights of his & watch. Mundine get's him with it two or three times a round it seems like...there again...the shots didn't really fwock with Kess even though they connected flush.![]()
