Junior Witter bumps into Ricky Hatton and Hatton Avoids Witter

Junior Witter today has claimed on thisisbradford.co.uk, that Ricky Hatton is so keen to avoid him he refused to share a boxing ring and even avoided looking in the direction of Witter.

Witter came face to face with his rival at a fight in Sheffield - but Hatton totally ignored Witter at all cost. While Hatton was there to be in the corner for his brother Matthew, Witter was there helping opponent Alan Bosworth, who trains in
the same gym as Witter.

Witter said: "I stepped in the ring with Alan and saw Hatton there but the funny thing is he wouldn't come in. He was just stood on the ring apron outside and trying not to look at me."

Witter added: "There was no chance of talking to him. He was looking at all the people around him because he didn't want to catch my eye."

I hardly call what he did ducking Hopkins. Witter has just come back off of holiday and the fight would have been in four weeks. I think Witter would be looking for a massive fight or an easy defence, Hopkins would fit in the grey area between the two.

I'd see witter posing a few problems for hatton with his speed and punching power, but seriously, i've seen him fight a few times, and apart from knocking out and old vivian harris, he stinks, and the best example of this is against Corley, that was one mundane performance when he said he will impress.

He's a total spoiler, slinkin and holdin and tryin for a big shot here and there with hardly any workrate. He came up against someone with decent workrate in T Bradley and got schooled. I think its time someone stitched his lips together. Hope Alexander schools him too.

Hatton smashed his way to a world title whereas Witter slinked and slided and eventually managed to outbore DeMarkus Corley !

Hatton goes for the win and on his worst night would have beaten Witter , witter lived his life in the shadow of Hatton and after his crass classless behaviour towards Hatton I say good!

Hatton was a breath of fresh air for this sport , junior witter was a local potshotter who lost to Timothy Bradley !

Hatton doesnt wanna give someone he hates so much the payday of his life.

Junior would earn 5times in one night what he would earn in his entire career if ricky gave him a shot and it would also draw absoloutely no attention stateside and automatically demote hatton to the 2nd tier of world boxing which he clearly isnt.

Witter is not worthy

Hatton spent nearly 10 years shamelessly ducking him. At Brit level, through his never-ending WBU run, and then into genuine world level. Only Tszyu, Castillo (although ancient, because it was stateside) and Floyd were justifiable better opponents than Witter in all that time.

Hatton "cleverly" bottled the fight. Simple as. There would have been no multi-million pound Las Vegas jamborees had Hatton proved to be only the 2nd best 140 fighter in Britain.

Fenster is right. The whole "I don't want to give him the pay day" is a weak excuse not to fight Witter when some would argue Witter has a legit shot at beating him. Hatton has fought other opponents who were not big draws since Tsyzu. So the ducking argument has some credence. Personally, I think Hatton would have beaten Witter, but it's now a case of we will never really know. Shame really because it could have been a very decent domestic fight.
