I think its irrelevant if Merchant knows something or nothing. The was nothing wrong with the line of question. Typical Mayweather, if I do all the talking, I must be right.
Personally, you shouldn't enter the ring as a Roman Gladiator and then run around it like Duncan Norvell.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough
Charley Burley
floyd wasn't right at all, floyd is full of shite. and larry merchant knowing about boxers but nothing about boxing wasn't even what floyd was implying. mayweather was making out that larry does'nt know what he's talking about and he's always negative when it comes to mayweather. the question was relevant and larry was right. i wouldnt exactly call it an exciting fight.
It was out of context what he said... but I can't disagree with it...![]()
One thing about Merchant is that he hates everybody equally, he shows nobody favortism, he alway's will be a critic to any fighter unlike George Foreman when he had his favorites that could do no wrong and those he did not like who he would never give credit too. Merchant may be a hater but he does not discriminate, he will never stab you in the back he will stab you in the front.
Merchant will be missed more than Floyd, I guarantee that.
Merchant does more than you guys think, it's easier said than done to commentate.
Also Merchant isn't above talking trash about HBO showcases. How cool is that!
i agree with you mate . he will always get critisized by the fans becuase they cant face reality. there were too many people on this forum that thought baldo could win but in reality it would bever happenOriginally Posted by Taeth
Only reason i stayed up to watch the end of the fight after the 10th round was to watch the Merchant interview at the end, even tho them tossers at sky cut it short so we cud get their 'expert annaylsis'
in the ring Flyod looks like one of the smartest people i seen in there in along time, but outside of it you ask him a question that hes unsure about he will just insult you, and claim that you know nothing about boxing, and to ask him 'coz only he does. Same as the Youtub link that showed flyod talking to some guy ona sports, show, and he was asking about how flyod was the champ after he only beat gatti who floyd claimd to be a papaer champ, and that hatton ahd beat 'the man in kostya' so surly he was the champ, and why shud hatton have to come to the states ot flight floyf.. bla bla legit question, totaly had floyd shock so he went for the insults:P
I agree with this too. It was funny to see that old bastard get called out. i was wondering when someone was gonna do it intelligently (i can see James Toney just cussing him out)...Merchant's interview questions do depend on whether or not he likes the fighter that he happens to be interviewing and I have heard a number of racist remarks ("...and now Bowe will enter the ring to the sound of tribal drumming, no doubt reminiscent of and a tribute to his African heritage..." - this was a comment by Merchant on Riddick Bowe's entrance music in the second Holyfield fight. The music was Phil Collins 'In the Air Tonight'. Definitely an African tribute song...lol) and somewhat condescending questions in certain interviews. I thought it was great what Floyd Mayweather said. Merchant doesnt know shit about actual boxing. All he knows about is watching boxing and talking shit to make the people who he doesnt agree with or like to look bad. At the same time, his stupid comments and drunkenness can sometimes be highly entertaining, so I dont hate Larry. He's a good part of the show. He just needs to be put in his place sometimes.Originally Posted by Taeth

I always look forward to the post fight interview and come to think of it I'm always disappointed Larry should keep his drunkass at the bar. I remember Bernard verbally hammering the shite outa him that was a laugh. We need someone smarter than Larry, someone that can inflate their ego and then trap'em into answering the obvious questions.
anyone remember the mccullough zaragoza fight when wayne lost and mid interview with merchant and wayne an irish fan stormed the ring and said "you were robbed wayne"
merchant sparked him cold and carried on with the interview hahaahha classic![]()
yeah maybe we should start a thread of stupid things Merchant has said and done...
LOL that's a fantastic idea. I remember during the first Hopkins-Taylor fight he was tearing into bernard the WHOLE time.Originally Posted by diamonddavestafford

merchant was a boxing analyst before floyd mayweather could walk.
merchant is listed in the official "hall of fame"
to say he knows nothing is complete rubbish.....
if merchant knows nothing about boxing,....then neither does anybody in this forum !!!!
anyway,... the facts stand :
1. the crowd started leaving way before the end.
2. the crowd hissed and boo mayweather.
mayweather had no answer.
in my opinion only 1 person came to fight that night , one guy chased and the other guy ran.
not 1 hard punch landed on baldomir,.... sure he was jabbed to bits, but pbf never mixed it up all night.
dont get me wrong,...... i was up for floyd, i hadaround 500 euros on him that night, but what i seen was poor.
compare it with the undercard matchup with the ghost,... now thats boxing.
i dont think there was 1 person other than floyd that called that match "entertaining"
hope he retires soon, ive lost a lot of respect for the "p4p champ".
if he does only have 1 more fight, it will be against somebody easy... another 1-sided matchuo to keep his record in tact.
such a shame that the golden weight bracket holds such amazing names and fighters, and they never meet each other.
if floyd dosent care for the money then lets see him match up with a reasonable fighter, no excuses.
