We all know that Manfredo's contract with the Contender wont allow him to lose to a non Contender fighter so you can rest assured that his next fight will be against another no hoper. They are saving him for the rubber match Sergio Mora, where he can safely lose then.

As for Calzaghe there is no point even speculating as we all know when it is announced it will be against somebody none of us have ever heard of anyways.

even Calzaghe vs Manfredo sounds too good to be true.

Expect Calzaghe vs completely unknown Somalian fighter with a 21-2 record who has never fought outside of Africa before.
Manfredo is no longer under contract with the contender. He can do what he wants.

Joe hasnt got time to be fighting the likes of Manfredo. The bika fight was ment to be a tune up fight but if he fights Manfredo well you can only say this is another tune up.If he is to be reconized as a pound 4 pound fighter he shouldnt even be considering these sort of fights. The whole world want to see the 4 belts unified. He needs to get off his a*** and start to train for kessler.

Well Manfredo is a big NAME American, right?

They've been saying HBO and them are looking for a big name American for ages...Kessler's never been on HBO has he?

Being a name like that doesn't do anything for Joe. Peter holds no titles, he's not undefeated, he's not a big payday and his style will simply showcase Joe's speed. I can't remember a time when a fighter only had one fight that made sense as much as Calzaghe vs. Kessler, you just can't argue against that. There is simply only one fight that matters for anything at SMW right now and that's Calzaghe vs. Kessler.

Kessler did get 30 secs on HBO after Calzaghe-Bika. HBO bought the rights to the whole fight, sent a production-team to Copenhagen, and then only showed 30 secs. I personally suspect Warren had something to do with it (not wanting his fighter to be overshadowed).
On the other hand. Has Joe ever had more than that one fight (and what a fight it was ) shown on HBO?

But yeah - Calzaghe can fight Manfredo. He can get his money and he might even get his exposure.
But he sure as hell won't get much respect for this.

If this happens, it's just crap. I love Manfredo and I want to see him progress, but Calzaghe will destroy him utterly. As for Calzaghe (who I also love), if you take this fight, when a Kessler match can be made, you are just a flatout bee-ach.

That being said, I'd certainly watch the fight

hey dumdane my pint got spilled in the pub on monday and i think warran had something to do with that too. frank warran is a bit of a tosser but i think what ever was on the HBO card was out of his hands. if the calzaghe bikka fight had ended earlier then its more than likely that HBO would have showed some more of the Kessler Beyer fight.

    FW thinks it makes sense.

FW on Manfredo-Calzaghe - “Manfredo makes sense for a number of reasons. HBO will be televising that fight, so I’d like it to be a high-profile American - and ‘The Contender’ is watched on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Taking that fight overseas, of course, would mean abandoning the hard-core fan base a Manfredo fight in Providence might be expected to generate.

“That doesn’t matter,” Warren said. “The opponent wouldn’t be bringing the crowd to Cardiff, Joe would. We might get 20,000-30,000 in Millennium Stadium for that one.”

Now you're making me think Calzaghe didn't stop Bika early ON PURPOSE - just to keep Kessler from getting exposure

I guess the question is this...........What would Manfredo bring to the table that is better than Kessler?
Manfredo (while he is gaining momentum in popularity) is far from being a big name in America. He is
best recognized as the guy that lost on the contender.

And if the opponent doesn't matter for draw reasons, why not Kessler? C'mon Joe unify, UNITE THE CLANS

Kessler might fuck this up -

“We’d want to do Taylor in late June or early July, probably in New York,” Warren said.

Reality TV show "winner" wont. And as you can see he's just as big/bigger a draw, apparently.
