The fight would have to take place at 160, neither of them can LEGALLY make weight for 154.

I'd side with Vargas though a mental edge would go to Mayorga...he's more like Duran in that he doesn't give a fuck, Vargas seems to get too emotional, maybe it's the roids

I hope they do not fight. If they do, someone does not care about Vargas. He is a good fighter but he takes clean punches. I hope he retires. Heck of a heart and he works hard.

I've seen this thread a few times before and posted in it every damn time. So here I go again. Mayorga by of early KO. I like both guys, but Vargas is shot, and didn't even come to win his last fight, just to pick up a pay check. They are both tough guys, but Mayorga seems to be more genuine in his rage, and hate. Vargas will talk shat, then dance around you, clinch, and try to out box you. Mayorga will talk shit, then come after you tryin to rip your head off, cept for that last fight with Oscar where he just got his ass kicked by a faget. Its a damn shame they both had to lose to such a phoney bitch like Oscar, but Oscar is a great fighter. Anyhow, at this stage ya gotta go with Mayorga by knockout, Vargas is too slow, and has lost his desire to fight. I hope Mayorga comes back someday, maybe against Vargas, but Vargas doesn't need anymore pay days IMO.

CC back. And you know Cotto is gonna whip Quintana's ass. There is a BIG differnce between beating Puerto Rican Joel Julio and beating Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto.

I thought Julio was Columbian? Anyhow, yep,I hope you are right my man but remember, those in the know predicted that Quintana would be a dangerman at 147 ad he is proving them correct. He has an awkward style, more awkward than Collazo,in that he can box,but he doesn't run,he sits down on his shots and is quite slick with good power. It will certainly be a challenge and I commend Cotto ALOT for taking this fight as his first at 147. He is signalling his intentions,he wants to fight the best especially as I didn't see anyone else willing to fight Quintana.

My bad, maybe Julio is Columbian. It's true that a lot of Columbians build up huge KO records then come to the states and lose, like Lampley was sayin tonight. Just look at that poor bastard Jaime Rangel. Who isn't too bad of fighter actaully, but just can't seem to get a decent win over here. Anyway, don't doubt Cotto, you must have faith. Screw Quintana, he's a herky jerky, all over the place little shit. Cotto has been fighting very good competition, much better than Quintana has, and will beat Quintana, he has to.

I think Julio was just overrated and that Quintana took advantage of him before any elite could

Wiggins was well on his way to spoiling for Jeff Lacy, but Jeff had power on his side.

    So do I...
But Don King, fraudlent judges, Cory Spinks, all conspired to screw El matador, and force him out of the welterweight division, and become a fall guy for Tito Trinidad, King's main cash cow at the time, and later ODLH sadly. Its a damn shame. Mayorga was a beast at 147. I wish he could train his ass off and get back down there, he could easily win a title right now, against Kermit Cintron. He'd blast Cintron out quickly, but it'd be a thriller while it lasted.

Mayorga was done WAAAAAAAAY before that, losing to a guy named Spinks I believe
He did lose to Spinks but tough guys are proud guys and Mayorga is tough as hell. Tito was the one that made him feel like he wasn't made of iron. I'm sure he felt humiliated by having to go down to avoid punishment.
The most humiliating & debilitating loss has come at the hands of Oscar...not Spinks & not Tito.

All that S*** he talked...all that stupidity at the weigh ins & at the pressers...& Oscar just totally outboxed him & beat him down.

Tito was given every oportunity. Mayorga stood there & let Tito hit him...Oscar never gave Mayorga the chance to even hang his chin out. He just punished him.

Spinks...sure he outboxed him...but that was also clearly the fault of Mayorga's stupidity again...couple with his clown a** antics.

As far as Vargas vs Mayorga...yep...I'd watch it...because honestly...their both idiots & I'd be curious to see who out idioted the other first.

    Surely it'd be Mayorga.
Oh yeah, Oscar did eat Tito's leftovers again.

Mayorga forced himself out of the Welterweight division.

He was supposed to fight Rivera and I know he would have won but he came in overweight

Yes, but that was AFTER the Spinks debacle. AFTER they STOLE his titles from him. And I think Rivera may have given Mayorga some trouble, but yeah he would have beaten Rivera.
