What a 2 weeks we've had..............

My missus was 2 days overdue, giving birth to out first babe and hadn't felt the baby move all day, so we went up to the hospital for a check up. They put her on the baby monitor and found that the babies heart beat was droppping down low intermintantly. They just whisked my missus away for am emergency caesarean - and I was just left standing in a room whilst she went for an epidural.

When the babe was born she was not in a good way - thought we were gonna lose her !!! She had breathed in loads of mechonium amongst many other probs.

Spent 8 days in High dependancy special care baby unit and last 4 days in a transition ward - had to watch her have heart and brain scans - I think we will be changed forever after this!!!

just got her and my wife home this afternoon!

Never been so scared in my life - 12 days of heaven & hell - still shitting myself now - but every minute of it is worth it for what we have

Anyway - what have I missed ?

Congrats. You are correct that your life will never be the same. I have 3 kids and I don't want to go back to where you are, but I also wouldn't change it. Your biggest obstacle is keeping your marriage strong. Loving your kids comes easy. A very successful and nearly retired business man once told me that the best way to be a good father is to be a good husband. If you do that your wife will be happy and be a good mother and your children will always respect you and the misses. Enjoy and congrats again.
