The fact that Torres hasn't fought in over a year I'm pretty sure affected him a bit. But it's obvious he's a one-dimensional fighter.Originally Posted by El Gamo

It was funny how Manny Steward was just pushing for Arnaoutis I mean IMO the rd. was won by Torres and Manny would sayd I like how Mike was stepping back and making space for himself his going at a good pace...
NO HE WASNT!!! He was going back cause he was getting hit, and he wasnt at a good pace he was TOOOO conservative he would have beating Torres without a problem would he have continued to attack and push forward...
I like Manny as a trainer, but as a commentator he gets on my nerves. At about 1 minute into the first round he will say how a fighter doesn't look good and is fighting the wrong fight. It's really annoying for him to count someone out as soon as the fight starts, then when they win he says they fought the right fight.Originally Posted by CutMeMicK

Which fight was it when Emanuel Steward said that one of the fighters "shot his wad."
He said that twice about the same fighter... I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
I want to add that I understand the defintion of the term, but still.. it's such a sexual innuendo.

I don't care for Arnaoutis but I felt he won 114-113, not a blatent robbery but he should have won IMO. Neither guy looked great, but Torres just couldn't get anything going, though he won 5 rounds, possibly more, just by outthrowing Mike. Weird fight, kind of a let down. An all Columbian showdown between my boy Juan Urango and Torres could be great, but unfortunetely Urango is gettin ready to fight Hatton, and I dunno how he's gonna beat Hatton. Incidently Urango got a "draw" against Arnaoutis and had his share of trouble with him, though he didn't get dropped.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Is Urango similar to Torres? And how would Torres Hatotn go? Man,it sounds as if Torres was awful! Did he do anything well? Did he hurt Mike?
Hatton could definitely stop Torres. Torres is not a top contender at 140. He hurt Mike a little bit a couple of times, but never bad enough to make it look like he could put him down, much less out. Mike definitely could have finished off Torres if he had gone hard on him after knocking him down. Torres was definitely hurt on the knock down. Even though he didn't look exceptionally powerful . . . power seems to be Torres's only strength--he's a bad boxer.Originally Posted by El Gamo
Ricardo Torres could give Ricky a tough fight....don't sleep on him, he's a tough mofo!!!
Torres is a pressure fighter with good handspeed and great power....it would be a fun fight to watch if he fought Ricky

Maybe Torres had so much troubel cuz mike is a southpaw, I dont know if he has much experience with a good technical southpaw.

Cotto did a lot of dumb shit in their fight that made Torres look better than he is. He's got some power, that's it.
Arnoutis is a lefty. How many fighters look bad against a slick southpaw?Originally Posted by shza
Torres has a pretty good chin, and good heart. He gets up when he's knocked down and he is able to fight back. I would agree with you that he didn't look to good in that last fight, but no way he's a bad fighter because of it.
