Threads like this are pointless, what's done is done,I could just as easily say Margarito injured his wrist hence the weaker punches/lowering of activity towards the end?? Also, from what I have heard and read,it was a broken finger, not broekn hand(someone verify this please). I'm sure Gatti breaks his hand often,Cotto hurt his against Paulie etc etc yet these guys still carried on fighting with full heart.

You can say that a guy with more heart would have continued to throw the left more--that's fine. But the point isn't about Clottey as much as it's about Margarito. He was getting dominated until Clottey hurt himself. Maybe Clottey didn't tolerate the injury as well as some would have; but without the injury he would have continued to dominate Margarito. Margarito didn't show anything to convince me otherwise, anyway. Clottey was hitting harder (even after hurting his hand), was literally twice as fast, and had much better defense and timing. If Margarito's next two fights are really going to be Williams and then Cotto--there's no way he retains his alphabet strap.

I bet they'll rematch after Margarito loses to Williams or Cotto.

who lost?? enough said...injuries are injuries....... What if Donny Lalonde didn't have a torn rotator cuff when he lost to Leonard? What if Tyson never parted ways with Rooney and Atlas What if What if
It feels good to be back home.

im not making defenses, but ive seen people say that the injury wasnt a factor, and i cant believe someone would look at clottey not throw one punch in the fifth and say that margarito is just a slow starter and turned on in the 5th round

    C-C!
That and Clottey or anybody at 147 can't match Margarito's stamina, and Clottey did show signs of losing energy, his footwork wasn't the same. Margarito landed plenty of unnoticed hurtful bodyshots.

They had some pretty good rounds in the fight. Great fight night.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say even had Clottey not had hand problems Margarito would still have won the fight. Yes he lost the first four rounds and yes he was getting hit, but that is Margarito's style at the end of the day. Clottey gave a steller performance, especially in the first third of the fight but I felt Margarito was the stronger of the two coming down the stretch.

Clottey looked exhausted at the end and that wasn't all due to his hand. It's even possible that had he been more offensive and thrown both hands he could have got caught and knocked out by Margarito.

Bilbo, you are the man and I know you speak truthfully because you don't really like Tony. Although Clotey landed the more eye catching shots, and had an awesome D,Margarito's bodywork was good although he should have started earlier. There was a round when Tony had him in the corner, round 8 I think and was just laying into Clottey,I thought Tony should have stopped him there. You also correctly pointed out, that Clottey was getting tired towards the end for sure, you could see when he was sitting down on his stall...I think that was the best of Clottey and the not so best of Tony and still I had Margarito winning and another good name on the resume!

to you buddy. Actually I'm warming to Margarito, he has no defense and he's always getting hit but I've never seen him really hurt or get tired.

If him and Cotto fought, what a hell of a fight that would be. I'd still even give Margarito a big chance in that fight, Cotto was too strong for Quintana but I don't see anyone at 147 being too strong for Margarito

I can't believe that only you, me and possibly Gyroki out of all the voters felt Margarito would have won regardless. Come on have some faith in him people.

Personally I think Clottey found it convenient to have the hand injury later on.

Compare that to Lacy, who had to be asked by his trainer how his arm was doing... that is why I will give a guy like Lacy the benefit of the doubt.

Margarito needs some DRAGO steroids to get his slow a** going again!
I like Margarito alot and all but daaamn he was slow saturday Clotty was peacing him good
