Question about the Olympics...

Why is it in the Olympics that the boxers are all amatuers only?

I know we take that for granted because thats the way its always been but EVERY other sporting event in the olympics features the pro's.

Even the basketball and football tournaments there are all pro players, I'm sure the Judo fighters are the worlds best, all the tennis players are pro's, the track athletes are the worlds best obviously but for boxing is represented by amatuers only?

How awesome an event could it be if the pro's had their own tournament in the olympics!

Finally fighters wouldn't be able to choose their matchups, they would have to face the best and we'd get to see some great 3 rounders.

No, because in sports like soccer(football), hockey, basketball, baseball etc... a player can play 4-5 games in 2 weeks. Except maybe Mayweather I can't see any other boxer taking on 4-5 12 round fight against top opponents... Also no boxer would do it just because why fight at the olympics when I can handpick worse oponents and make millions of dollars?

The ameturs of boxing, have the world championship's and the olympics and various other tournaments. i.e golden gloves etc... what you have to look at most of the pro boxers have good schooling. Pro boxing is for money, makeing a living dont put pro boxers into the olympics, its not football as the saying goes.
" you play football, you dont play at boxing".

Dont ruin the ameturs and leave the pros as they are.
