Vargas was and still is my favourite fighter, although he hasn't done much lately, I have respect for him for the way he has set himself up financially, at least it SEEMS like he has it all together, he was brought up too fast, gave it his all, that's all we can ask for as fans,

I see his future as one of those fighters that is a stepping stone for the up and comers, their first real test, a step up in class, his big fight days are over,

I suppose he would like to get back and get at least one more big fight and retire then,

Mayorga vs Vargas would be a cool fight to watch.
Cotto vs Vargas would be cool too.

Never liked Vargas although he showed heart v Tito and Oscar but was never really the same after the Tito fight. He was awful against Shane and I thought he might retire. I wonder what weight he'll fight at.

I think mosley was not the fighter vargas should have fought. Alot of boxing fighters have difficulty to fighting one kind of opponent and this was not the opponent vargas should have fought. For example Mayweather has trouble fighting with boxers that just keep coming at him .Floyd had trouble with Castillo and also with chavez.

In light of Vargas' record, and the fights that he had, I don't think that he was ever an 'elite' fighter. Journeyman? No, but I think what got
Vargas to where he was was simply his heart, pride and determination. Believe it or not, many of times those factors can trump skills to a
    large extent.
I love Vargas and would like to see him bow out of the sport gracefully after getting a win under his belt against a decent boxer.

Vargas was I guess a brave fighter but besides that gift of winning over wright, he was m,moved up too fast and did not learn that it is no crime to duck. The only thing that is not effective right now is his head movement and that simply means he'd better think about how he has been hurt these last few years since Tito and Oscar hurt him. The last thing he needs is to fight another future Shane Mosely. He is fast becoming a trial horse. Time to take a step back and look at the big picture because champion is not on his mantle.
