Agreed...any man can & will be beaten...I just don't think that Cotto's the guy to do it.Originally Posted by El Gamo

............I thought the same thing before the Clotty fight...IMO Antonio is not the man I thought he was...He showed way to many flaws.....Maybe it was just a bad night who knows but against PBF you can't have a bad night....you can't even have just a good night...If you are not at the top of your game your chances are nil and none

LMAO,I knew some of you would get a kick out of that but first Tony has been a wrecking machine at 147 and 1 bad night does not cancel all those good nights and second,I bet you change your mind when Tony beats(or gives Cotto a good fight) Cotto and Williams next yearOriginally Posted by DaxxKahn
2007 will be big for Margarito.
i respect margarito and mayweather alot but i see cotto beating them both at ww. maybe im wrong but its just how i see it
Pleased to make your acquaintance
Yeah...Daxx beat me to that.Originally Posted by El Gamo
Thing is...& you know this...I have never been that impressed with Margarito as I think that he (like most Mexi-fighters of late) throws caution to the wind & forgets to box...thus relying on power & thus...not doing to much in the overall boxing department.
That coupled with the fact that had Clotty not fwocked his hand...he would have lost.
He looked terrible against Clottey...& honestly...I haven't been that impressed with many of his showings against gifted boxers. Sure he looks great against wash ups & under acheivers...but Floyd aint remotely close to either of those descriptions.
Floyd would stomp a mudhole in his ass & walk it dry.
No offense.

The one punch power always makes things interestings but I don't think Cotto takes it. He could hurt him a couple times but what we haven't seen Cotto go up against yet is a really good and fast straight puncher. Don't got much time to explain but style matchups like Floyd and even Judah to some degree (Judah would give him serious problems for a bit before he gets broken down) wouldn't work out good for Miguel.
But now that I think about it. There isn't really a blue print to beating Floyd at this point, but there is one thing we know. Floyd likes to give away his body early. Against Baldomir and Judah especially, Floyd is usally concerned about covering up top, with the chin tucked to the shoulder and one hand on the ear. And up to this point we haven't seen him really worked to the body yet. Now of course he would probably alter this to cope with Cotto but you never know.
Hard fight to size up, would definitely be interesting.
Not only do I think Cotto would give him the biggest scare but quite possibly his first L. The thing with Cotto is that he doesn't have overwhelming speed but the timing of hi punches is as good as it gets. He has a very sneaky way of getting his punches in. Definitely a fight I wanna see. No way Cotto gets humiliated like Gatti, Baldomir and those type of guys.

I do, I think Cottos come along just fine and hes really grown. His skills just keep getting better and better as for PBF I mean his been fighting the same way since I could remember one day that style isn't gonna work (Like against JLC) and since he can't rely on another style cause he doesn't have one hes gonna be in trouble....
Cotto on the other hand hes shown signs of being a boxer which hes done best with and that he can become the puncher which is not always the best choice but regardless that means he can mix it up, whats PBF gonna mix it up with from a boxer to a 'runner' ?
I just think as Cotto adds repetoire to his game PBF just focus on improving his skills which like I said have payed off but one day that didn't (JLC) and won't work.
I like Cotto, and he looked really strong against Quintana, but Floyd would absolutely toy with him.
Hate on Floyd all you want, but speed and technique beats punching power every single time. Cotto relies on breaking his opponents down with a withering body attack. But you can't wear your opponent down when the guy you're facing is almost impossible to hit. Cotto would spend the fight chasing Floyd around, while Floyd nails him with every punch in the book. If Cotto had trouble with Torres' hand speed, how is he going to handle the fastest fighter on the planet?
I think Cotto gets stopped due to accumulated punishment somewhere around Round 9.
Impossible to hit like when he fought JLC?Originally Posted by SweetPea

Where they didn't even touch him.... Hes not invisible, PBF rolls with pucnhes to the upper part of his body but he can't roll with hooks to the body.
any "fear" that floyd ever had would be washed away when he saw the malignaggi/cotto fight, or the corely/cotto fight..........
this is getting ridiculous, cotto is coming off a big win against CARLOS QUINTANA, that does not make him ready for the #1 p4p fighter on the planet
The Castillo fight was a loooong time ago. Floyd is a much more complete fighter than he was then. At that time, Floyd didn't have the same amount of offensive weapons to keep a brawler like Castillo off him. His right hand was completely undeveloped and he relied almost exclusively on quick left hooks. Mayweather '02 and Mayweather '06-'07 are not one and the same.Originally Posted by CutMeMicK
Zab Judah is a much different fighter than Cotto. While a total headcase, Judah possesses tremendous hand and foot speed, in addition to the difficulty that his southpaw style presents. I always said that a focused Judah was the only guy at 147 who could give Floyd a scare, because he's the only fighter who is blessed with as much speed as Floyd. Thru the first 4 rounds, Judah fought very well, because of his speed, and because Floyd was a little confused by the southpaw stance.Originally Posted by CutMeMicK
After the first few rounds, Mayweather completely figured Judah out, and gave him a beating over the last 2/3 of the fight.
Cotto doesn't present the speed and style issues that Judah does. He doesn't have nearly the hand or foot speed and therefore will not be able to land significant punches, like Judah was able to do in Rounds 1-4.
Well apparently Sharmba Mitchell was ready for the #1 P4P fighter....Originally Posted by frozensolid_702
