This is a video of an Irish sport called Gaelic Football, the most popular sport in Ireland. The match is between the bitter rivals Kerry & Dublin in the All-Ireland quarter final of 2001.
The guy in this video (Maurice Fitzgerald) is regarded by many as the greatest footballer of his generation and maybe even all time. Some of the things he could do with a football were almost superhuman... the most prolific kicker of a ball I have ever seen, off either foot as well. He was possibly the only player I know of who took free kicks with both his feet depending on the side of the pitch he was on! I have never seen anyone able to do that effectively in any code of football before.
In this video, he was just brought off the bench at the end of the match and his first touch of the ball was to score the greatest point I have ever seen. Great in the fact that it was kicked under amazing pressure, the Dublin manger shouted "Your Mother is a whore!" in his ear right as he was kicking it and it was a huge distance out in very strong winds.

Sadly, nobody got to see as much of this genius as we all wish we could have. The Kerry manager at the time had personal problems with him and refused to play him in most matches, only using him when completely necessary.

The kick was truly amazing... I remember seeing it live on TV, I was watching with some of my friends who were Dublin supporters. As soon as the ball left his foot it looked like it was going wide and my friends started jeering with cockiness... then out of no where, the ball started to swerve back towards the goal and dropped straight over the bar to level the match. I think some of us were in shock! The looks on my friends faces were priceless!
Gaelic football is best described as a combination of rugby and soccer. Very fast paced and physical and played on a much bigger pitch. Can you believe none of the players get paid a cent? It is all played with pride as the main income, hehe. It is refreshing to watch because you know that every one of the players is playing solely for the love of the game.
