He did the right thing by staying nothing. Last night was not the place for it. If he would have said something, it would of looked like was trying to convince the public he's innocent. Let the courts handle it. Evidentially the facts that the bitch is lying will come out and it'll be over.

I don't get the argument that Lampley should be forced to say something just because they talk about fighters' problems/arrests all the time.
Like others have said, the HBO boxing telecasts are about fighters, if a fighter is having legal problems that may prevent them from fighting, then that's something they need to talk about.
It's "HBO World Championship Boxing," not "Jim Lampley's Life Story." These charges just happened and he hasn't even been through the legal process. Was it that important to you guys that he say "I'm innocent!"??

HHhhmmmm. He had quite a bit to say about Diego Corrleas, Matthew Hilton (or was it David)...or was it both. Also, Briggs got sued by some football player and we heard all about it. Hell, all I wanted was a taste on Saturday night...something to divert my attention from the two snoooozers.

Why would they bring up anything? He's not a boxer, he's just a guy who presents boxing to us. He's not a former boxer either. He's just a commentator. It had nothing to do wiht the fights. They bring up PBF's and Corrales' charges because it could be a distraction and effect the fight. Bringing up Lampley's legal issues would have had nothing to do with the actual fight. No reason to bring up the charges.

no they bring PBF charges to discredit them as people. telling people who PBF beat up in some club or who zab judah got in a fight with has nothing to do with the fights. sometimes thoes fighters aren't on the card and they bring up there legal issues. lampley and merchant go from sports commentators to reporters during some fights because they're so busy telling everybody business. jim lampely may not be a fighter but he is a large part of the sport. he been apart of some of the best fights in recent memory. if they can blast other people on there wrongs then he should bring up his own faults.

I don't know what the legal situation is over in America but in the UK he wouldn't have been allowed to comment.

Any famous personality who has been accused of any crime in the UK undergoes firstly a national shaming campaign in the papers. They are pictured running to their car with their coat pulled up over their head to obscure them.

Then they are immediately taken off the air altogether, suspended from whatever show or shows they were part of and shunned by the media and virtually all their famous friends.

Then once the court case is over, if the charges are dropped they get to appear on daytime tv and talk about their nightmare, how they were totally innocent and completely vindicated.

At this point if their reputation is restored in the eyes of the public they will get their old shows and their showbiz friends back and carry on as normal.

If however the public are not totally satisfied they will remain shunned for a longer period before given a chance to redeem themselves, usually by appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, but I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is also an acceptable show to attempt redemption on.

Don't expect HBO to be unbiased. Oscar ran for the last 2 rounds against Trinidad barely throwing a punch and they didnt give him as bad a thrashing as they gave mayweather for throwing punches
